received a bus for repair in the shop today, complaint was "makes noises, loss of power" inside was a note from the driver who had reported the damage... "these are the parts that fell off it" the note was laying on top of a stack of parts, including: front bumper, engine hatch inner liner, various brackets for air hoses and such, one door actuator and the motherfucking parking brake handle now wonder my techs hates busdrivers

I had the joy of my car's battery not holding a charge recently. I'd charge it over the course of an afternoon with my battery charger, it'd start fine, but by the end of the evening it was back to slow, bogged down cranking, and dead by morning. Repeat as necessary, with the occasional jump start in there. Took it to the Advance where I bought it less than a year ago, receipt in hand, they told me to pound sand because it was too new to have failed.

Welp, I knew I was in for fun when I removed the old regulator, but wasn't quite ready for this failure.. One of these things does not look like the other... one of these things just doesn't belong.. Oh, this is going to be fun. REEL fun. There is tension on that wire, and the only thing holding it in place is the plastic pulley, and the bit of 'reinforcement' that came out of the sliding pivot, which failed and reformed back to normal after letting this poo poo out the side (and eventually causing the cable to snap?). Got car back like this after a loan. My guess is someone sat on 'up' after the window failed to go farther down. Of course, the plastic spool that the wire feeds on is completely chewed through. Not sure if I can even tear that apart without losing a lot of blood. Maybe I'll just sell the motor and scrap the rest. Good times. Good times. First winter storm, so god damned glad I changed my wiper rubbers. The arms looked like they were still good for a while, but I'm starting to think about replacing the entire things. I like the fact that OEM rubbers cost like 15$ and I'm relatively satisfied, what would be a good jump in point for research on aftermarket ones? In return, some terrible thing from this summer, a badly secured load shifted and fell on it's side the second the drive attempted a left turn, destroying the expensive thingamabob and breaking the bed's front axle. Stuck truck for an afternoon right in the middle of the dock.

Safety Dance posted:If you have directional wheels and tires you have very expensive tire rotations anyhow. Not really. In an old falcon I had tickford alloys that were directional (I think), and directional tyres. As said before, swap front to rear because front and rear tyres were the same. My local Bob Jane tyre shop hosed it up once (the tyres - I can't remember for sure about the wheels), then again remounting a tyre after a puncture repair, so I don't buy tyres any more from there. I recently moved to San Diego. Now I see this stupid poo poo everywhere: I really liked how I could see the lip of the rim from the stupid tire being stretched to its breaking point. Also, impossibly loud raspy exhaust.

If you post "bike lane" in a thread three times Baron Jutter comes and shits up your thread. Bike lanes need to start getting engineered into city upgrade plans if they're not already. And with an eye to separating cyclists from cars completely. There are just too many hazards associated with cars. Plus a cyclist can do everything right and then whoops oil spot, car, dead. Better to use green space and separated sidewalk space and let them have their own safe space. Just make sure they can get to where they need to go. Oh and Baron Jutter is a good poster, I think I just noticed his posts more when the traffic engineering thread went to poo poo.
