The idea of not having any meaningful consequences to your actions and having everything served to you on a platter because you're a Chosen Job Creator is a fairly appealing one.

Curious if there's other good stuff made in the last year or two that's worth queuing up to watch over the holidays. Check out Mortified Nation. It's pretty funny and heartwarming.

Yeah, I can see this. I don't think anyone would turn down that kind of unlimited financial security, even if hard partying isn't really your bag. I guess part of the movie's point is that you don't really get to that point without being a complete scumfuck, though, which is obviously depressing as gently caress

Yeah, I'm just saying, I don't think it necessarily says anything negative about someone that they'd want to be Jordan Belfort after watching Wolf of Wall Street, because it only implies comfort with the end result. It doesn't necessarily mean they'd be okay with being a total scumfuck to get there.

Anyway, back on topic: Earlier in this thread someone mentioned The Double. Worth watching? I'm just saying that, to me, at least while watching it, the net effect was glamorization, not condemnation. This. I didn't come away from the movie feeling like it took sides against Belfort. It made him this powerful center of attention that got what he wanted and mostly painted him as glamorous more than tragic. Even showing his punishment was laughably mild with them playing tennis in prison cutting to the FBI guy on the train etc. I found what they did repulsive and I feel the most sorry for his first wife. I felt the movie ultimately tried to condemn him, but ended up showing you can more or less get away with it all. To me the only thing the movie really vilified was the system.

Can someone recommend me a decent horror movie? I've watched a handful, but most of these random horror films I haven't heard of are like gambling with my time. I watched and enjoyed The Den and that movie where the guy is trying to get his friend off of meth. Not a fan of Ti West.

Does peaky blinders stay awesome? The pilot was really good. Also Sam Neil vs Cillian Murphy is awesome. They're both on my top actors of all time list. And as far as recommending it, if it stays this way it's really good for anyone wanting a really hardcore english-noir romp. Just it's set in the early 1900s so it's really hardcore (they sew razorblades into their hats to use as weapons) NeoSeeker fucked around with this message at 03:36 on Dec 15, 2014 |

Of what's available on Netflix, my favorite horror movie would be Let The Right One In. If you want satire/comedy horror, Tucker and Dale vs. Evil is a really fun movie that I would also highly recommend. If you can find it in theaters or streaming somewhere (I hear it might be on iTunes?), The Babadook is a really, really good movie. Also if you haven't seen The Cabin in the Woods, you should see that, and I also really liked Drag Me to Hell (sadly none of these movies are on Netflix but they're probably on other streaming services).

Rageaholic Monkey posted:It's a shot for shot remake that drops the rad cinematography and incredibly unnerving tone of the original. If you want to watch a less impressive version of the original in English, then by all means, watch Let Me In. But let's not pretend that it's on the same level as Let The Right One In. It also trims a lot of fat out of the original. I think it's a wash, personally, both versions are really good. I also rerecommend The Babadook if you don't mind going to iTunes. Best horror film I've seen in a good long while.

The car crash in Let Me In is great, the camera is in the car as it rolls down a snowy hill and creates an enormous sense of motion. I still enjoy the original film better, there's a number of smaller things it does that make it a stronger film in my mind.
