His pictures are all lifted from elsewhere. He uses another one for his website that is obviously taken from a Facebook profile. Pubbies need to believe that Olivia is actually a female, though, hence the ridiculous amount of white-knighting.

What's worse is he blatantly uses those pics for attention. When ESD is off on its usual "boobs or rear end: which is better" topic, Olivia will link the pic and say "here are boobs for ya ;)"

Also lol at Aleth's warning. I was in transit all day yesterday so I missed whatever post mentioned my posting history. I like how Bluegeek warned you for inappropriate comments but he himself admitted he wasn't entirely sure.

I'm sitting in the mid 50's level wise with my Sci captain, and am tired of flying around in my mirror recon science vessel.
I've got about 500 zen hanging around. Is there anything I can upgrade to? Suggestions for science vessels to work toward with minimal grinding?

How many EC do you have?

That said, you don't necessarily need a sci vessel on a sci toon. Have you been keeping up with your breen ship grind?

Asimo

The main problem right now is that with delta rising, there's now two extra ship tiers (T5U/T6, then T5U fleet/T6 fleet, though only the lockbox/event ships are at that level at the moment) and all of them cost either zen or a boatload of energy credits on the exchange. The mirror ships are still... sufficient, but they're quite a bit behind the curve now. And yes, this is incredibly hostile to newbies but that's just one yet another subtle element of PWE's player-loving in DR. :effort: You can survive without a top-tier ship, but you're probably going to feel it until you get your gear up to spec, get a decent build, or both.

As noted, the best option right now is probably to just finish off the Breen Sarr Thein carrier and use that; it's not a science vessel, but it's pretty science heavy, it's tier 6, and it doesn't cost a cent. If you have alt slots you can grind out the Chell Grett, Plesh Brek, or both; they're not T6, but a free T5u is hard to pass up. Not sure if it's too late to start an alt grind yet, but if not, go to it. Also, as noted you don't really need to fly the same "type" of ship as your captain, so don't be afraid to try something else if it looks tempting.

Get the Chell Gret. That thing was a godsend to me as a space-poor fed sci when I was starting out. Also roll alts and get the the other two Breen ships.

Asimo
Sep 23, 2007

Yeah, if you do alts you can have three characters running the race, have each work on a different ship, then buy the other two for the discount rate. Three free ships is really hard to pass up, especially since the race itself is pretty quick and easy.

Just to clarify- after the first time you buy a ship for 1000, every other character gets that ship for 40.

It's one of the only really nice improvements cryptic has recently made to the game.

(also get three alts, so next year you'll have a hoard of pics for the new ship)

That improvement was made before the DR player-screwing really began. They were making a lot of little improvements that made starting a new account/alt much nicer than it was before, and then DR happened. Yet more evidence that the current state of the game is being largely dictated by PWE, not cryptic.

I am a congenital optimist.
So when I am upgrading, no matter what I do, it tells me that the accelerator I have selected will bind the result to my account. This is with no accelerator selected, an unbound beam weapon, and an upgrade made with no bound catalysts or anything.

Asimo

Yeah. Whatever your opinion of Cryptic's development, they've always been really good about making casual and accessible games, and making them moreso as they've gone along. Delta Rising is such a regression from the previous dev trends that there has to be some "monetization specialist" fuckwit calling the shots, kind of like the same idiots that hosed over GW2's cash shop before launch. The fact Cryptic is studiously avoiding even discussing the big elephants in the room (the hard fail conditions in queues, the massive paywall in front of newbies, etc) while making improvements and nerfs in tangential areas (heavily nerfing CCA and other queues, reducing enemy health, etc) makes it really clear that they're being forced to keep that poo poo in.

I imagine the office politics at the moment must be pretty toxic at the moment, especially considering how dramatically the player base has dropped. It's even worse if the actual revenue coming in (due to the pre-order packs, folks buying lots of dilithium for upgrades, etc) didn't drop, since on PWE's end it would look like everything's fine even as the game is rotted away from under them. "Luckily", considering how sparse the Sheshar is I suspect any boost in revenue with the expansion launch was really, really short lived.

Good news, everyone! Cryptic has finally decided to tackle that pesky bug which is causing the STF queues to not work. You might have foolishly believed that the queues weren't popping because no one wanted to play them with the current nerfed rewards and hard-fail condition, but you'd be wrong. It's obviously a bug, otherwise why would they need their players to list which queues were worthless bugged?

Edit: Obviously, the same bug is affecting their metrics. Otherwise they wouldn't have to ask the players. And this certainly can't be a cynical attempt to get a bunch of people to queue up for testing, thus causing the queues to start quickly.

Hah, he seems to be going out of his way not to call it a bug. Just a 'problem' or an 'issue'. Because the 'issue' is the players not joining.

Also, for a mod his grammar is atrocious.

On a slightly less cynical note, it does prove Cryptic is fully aware of the issue and what it is. The question is whether they're trying to gather player responses to shove in PWE's face about the absolute failure of the queue changes, or whether they're still stuck with those and are just trying to find which to nerf hard.

I mean it's possible to nerf a lot of queues into the ground so hard that the failure condition is basically meaningless... look at CCA right now where I'm not sure it's even possible to fail without actively trying to since you can effortlessly face tank both explosions. The problem is, if the queue is that trivial then why even have a normal/advanced split? And there's a few queues where the failure condition relies on teamwork (Borg Disconnected, frex) where nerfing the enemies will only go so far and your average pug will still have a non-zero failure chance, making sure they stay empty. It was just a clusterfuck of a change all around and anyone with two firing neurons and experience with STO's playerbase could have seen it coming weeks ahead of time.

If you log out, and then log in, this issue clears. I hope this helps before anyone accidentally binds their upgraded items to their account.

I guess if you slot a bound accelerator, and then clear the slot, the game keeps the bound flag flipped. :cryptic:

Actually, Grim, the reason he muted me forever from his channel was because I went on offering T5 invites. Some of his channel minions actually took me up on the offer, and he flipped out.
