Driftmoon is -80% (2,39€/$2.99/£1.99) Based on the first 60 minutes the game mechanics are just your standard rpg but the general tone is very lighthearted and absolutely lovely. Kennel fucked around with this message at 21:53 on Dec 20, 2014 |

Is Isaac rebirth any easier than the original version? On the original I never got to see most of the content because I just didn't have the skill. Does Rebalanced mean I may not repeat that if I buy rebirth?

i think overall it probably is a little easier. the analog controls actually make a really noticeable difference for me i had 26 hours in the base pc version and didn't get a single heart kill. I've had like 6+ heart kills and an isaac kill in fewer hours on the vita version of rebirth

Does Rebalanced mean I may not repeat that if I buy rebirth? I'd say it probably is. Wrath of the Lamb was rather unbalanced at times... this is pretty much an entirely different game in terms of content and difficulty, mainly because things actually WORK now. You don't get excessive slowdown, certain item combos work really well, and there's entirely new characters that let you play in Different ways (such as Lazarus, who can ressurect from the dead etc.) It also has a 'hard mode' which basically makes things more difficult but you don't have to choose that. e: Worth pointing out that you will probably die a lot to begin with. You start with rather barebones unlocks, but you'll soon quickly unlock some really cool stuff and it just sort of snowballs from there. tater_salad posted:What kind of game is it like? It's basically Theme Prison. You have to design a prison using limited resources that will increase with the amount of prisoners you take in. You have an incredible amount of freedom to design the prison however you want, so you can have a low-security prison with mostly non-violent inmates or a gulag style super max with mass murderers rubbing shoulders with cannibals etc. Half the fun is seeing things go to the complete crap because you've made some bad decisions. It's got a bit of a learning curve, but it's an immensely satisfying game and hosed up at the same time.

The gimmick works really well, although I'm kinda on the fence as to whether the near-monochrome graphics (each level has one primary colour, one highlight colour) really work. I'd also recommend the Alltynex trilogy, but it's not on sale currently.

koolkal posted:That game got weird when I started finding random copies of the entire bible. I saw reviews where people poo poo on the game for that and a handful of references the characters make about God, but frankly I thought those criticisms were overblown because none of that really meant anything major in the game and none of it is particularly forced down your throat (it's been nearly a year since I played and if it did play more of a role, I've basically forgotten about it). It's a neat game because it was very clearly a personal product for the husband-and-wife dev team - for crying out loud, the main heroine you meat halfway into the game is basically meant to be the wife dev - that wears all of its influences on its sleeve, but it doesn't overstay its welcome and the overall mood is funny and agreeable. It was a nice diversion that I beat after two evenings of play, and it's well worth the current price.

Kly posted:I'm pretty interested in Sproggiwood http://store.steampowered.com/app/311720/ I got it in the auction and played through on Easy so far. It's really cute and polished and the enemies are neat, but I accomplished the entire campaign without any backtracking at all, even though the game seems to be encouraging playing through areas multiple times with different classes. Not sure how it'll be on Normal difficulty, but that's my experience so far. I'm happy I got it, though.

Kly posted:I'm pretty interested in Sproggiwood http://store.steampowered.com/app/311720/ It's not super long, but there is plenty of repeatability because of the different classes. You can easily get 10+ hours of it. The lack of variety is a valid complaint, since once you figure out one or two classes it's pretty easy to break the game with the others. But I think it's easily with the price.

Kly posted:I'm pretty interested in Sproggiwood http://store.steampowered.com/app/311720/ I am really enjoying it. Currently has 6 classes and around 10 areas. If you look through my posts I asked the dev a few questions. It looks like a fair amount of content is coming shortly after the mobile version hits. Edit: Found it. "Yeah, we're planning on doing an infinite dungeon mode and/or a "savage" difficulty (serious business for roguelike veterans) at the same time that the mobile release comes out. (Early-ish next year) The last few weeks have been spent doing doing full controller support, which should be out this weekend, as soon as that's out we'll be working on the infinite dungeon and mobile releases. If you switch to the Beta branch you can play with full controller support and test out the little holiday event. Caves of Qud (our older roguelike) also got ok'd by Valve for Steam, so we've also been working on a Unity-based revision of it, and early testers (from the roguelike thread) are already playing."
