For my own question. [b]Planetary Annhilation[/p]? I loved TA and Supcom (after it was fixed with the expansion) but this game always looked kinda lackluster. Anyone have an opinion on it? It's only 6 bucks currently.
I just got it today and played a few hours of SP while watching some casts of MP on youtube, I'm liking it a lot BUT if you didn't like Supcom 2 you will probably hate PA. It follows on from what SC2 did and makes the game even faster and more micro heavy, a game can end in the first couple minutes if the spawns line up right and one player gets in a good rush, and PA's equivalent of T3 are all different ways to wipe out entire bases and snipe commanders.

Its kind of hard to follow what's going on though, especially on maps with different planets. There's no good way to get that fully zoomed out view of the entire game that SC is known for. Even casters seem to get surprised by things sometimes.

I'd say PC so you can get rid of the loving letterboxing and get it running in 60fps.

Grab one of them that has dedicated servers. So COD4, BLOPS1 and I think also BLOPS2? The rest are P2P.

But really just check here to see the numbers.

Huh. I have 2 gb video RAM (660ti), and it ran quite well with the letterboxing removed (which adds quite a bit of renderable area). I was hitting 45~50 fps instead of 60, but at 30 I was running it maxed out.

Call of Duty 4 is pretty much the gold standard of the newer campaigns.

It's pretty incredible from start to finish.

Modern Warfare 2 also has a fun campaign.

Basically Infinity Ward (old ones, not the the shell it is now) campaigns are pretty drat fun. The rest not hugely so.

This is the exact response I get on the game's discussion page. I have a legit 360 controller, official microsoft wireless adapter, and the game will not recognize any input. So when I post about how it's totally broken, all I get is "You're a dumb gently caress, probably have it synced to your 360, trololololol"

Well, I know there are actually some games that have problems with the wireless controller, but those problems would occur for everyone or at least a majority of users. One-off sync issues that only affect a few people tend to be a hardware problem, not software. Not that I know anything about this game in particular, but I've fooled around with the wireless sync enough to know a little about how finicky it can be.

At the time it was a real surprise. But I'm not sure if that's because people had zero expectations going in and then got surprised by the branching campaign.

I agree with this post. It's after this that the plot goes from stupid fun to just stupid, I couldn't get into Black Ops at all. World at War was also terrible, which sucks because I wanted to listen to Keifer Sutherland and Gary Oldman say things.

Less gameplay than Long Live the Queen (they are extremely story oriented) but they're very well written dark stories told in a framework obviously meant to echo typical VNs.

Dracula: Love Kills is pretty fun, and it's all voice-acted as goofily as loving possible. Good mix of hidden-object and lite puzzles. Plus, the stock sound they use when you drain a victim

Star Control II is the best game ever made

RUSH and English Country Tune are both less than a buck. Can confirm RUSH is an elegant puzzler, and lots of goons like ECT (though I've never played it. Worth a pickup if you like puzzle games.

Escape Goat for less than $2. Buy this now.

did you consider Double Dragon Neon is 5 Dollars

On sale without being featured: HABITAT, which is basically "gently caress around in Low Earth Orbit: The Game" If you ever wanted to tie the Statue Of Liberty to the T-Rex Statue from Novac and fly around Earth, there ya go.

Alien: Isolation is the best game of the year.

Alien vs Predator isn't exactly good but about a third of it is scary, and another third is cool because you can run on the walls. (Do not play the Predator third)

Eldritch is actually a lot scarier than it should be while sporting PS1-era graphics. The sound design goes a long way.

Eversion is really more of a "I have to go rock slowly in the shower now" type of scary, but goddamn is it good. Short, though.

I Have No Mouth And I Must Scream suffers from some pretty bad 'puzzle game logic' at parts, but at less than $2 will give you the depressing heebie-jeebies all the same

:siren::siren:The Swapper:siren::siren: is really, really spooky and cold and depressing and scary and holy poo poo you guys play The Swapper

Vlad the Impaler is basically a Princess Maker game, but the very first choice you make leads to someone possibly getting sawed in half, longways.

I'm logged into Steam. I've edited the settings.txt file to fill in my sessionID and steamLogin - I've left the other two optional ones blank.

To my knowledge this was all that had to be changed.

When I run the exe - it opens a little window and seems to work. It find the right number of games that have cards to drop, picks one and says it's starting it, but then also says it's sleeping for 15 minutes.

If I check steam - it doesn't appear that I'm in game, and cards don't drop even after hours of not playing anything else simultaneously.

Here's what I'm seeing:

Any ideas? Happy to SAM them instead, but do like the idea of turning this on and forgetting about it instead.

I had this same problem, and for me it was the client has to be running. When you say you're logged into steam are you talking about having the client running or are you logged into the website only? When it runs properly a mini-window with the game icon will take up the upper 1/4 of the screen you screenshotted, as a seperate window.

Yeah Evil Within runs fine on my 2 GB video card, they overdid the recommended specs a little bit because apparently that's what they do. Just check out the demo if you're not sure, that's what I did and I'm glad I did because the style of game wasn't my thing.

Thanks. Yeah - I'm logged in through the client. Minimized, but logged in. Will give it another go.

Edit - having it not minimized made no difference.
Just seems strange. The values copied into the settings.txt file are clearly working. All of the information that appears in that window is accurate. No biggie. I typically idle through SAM as I get games that have cards - it's not like I have hundreds to go through. Just using SAM for now.
