Not quite sure how it would work. But a P2P lending system similar to BTCjam where you can get health assistance crowdfunded by others, with the option to pay back to the lenders or a lender can opt to not be paid back.

Why not kill two birds with one stone?

yes because electricity just comes spewing out of the ground and any that isn't used has to be stored or thrown away

related, here are a bunch of bitcoiners calling warren buffet dumb, because he obviously does not understand the brilliance of the bitcoin

quote:

[–]bitcoinrole 114 points 5 days ago

I guess if he wrote his first line of computer code when he was 11, he would have a different story.

[–]KoKansei 109 points 5 days ago

Buffet is a smart guy and an investing legend, but even by his own admission he knows poo poo all about bitcoin. Asking about his opinion on bitcoin is like asking about Peewee Herman's opinion on the P=NP problem.

[–]odal_limbs 30 points 5 days ago

His research analysts likely concluded that mass adoption of bitcoin will result in his losing shitloads of money in the banking stocks that he owns by the truckloads. Hence the statement disparaging bitcoin.

[–]Sugar_Daddy_Peter 17 points 5 days ago

He doesn't invest in what he doesn't understand and he admittedly doesn't understand Bitcoin then goes on to give advice about it.

It's a threat to him. The world is changing and he wants checks money orders and banks because that's easier to understand when you don't own a computer.

[–]inertia186 7 points 5 days ago

To be honest, if Buffet was into Bitcoin, it would indicate that he thinks he understands Bitcoin. And that would make little sense. I don't think he even understands the threat.

Nonprofit using Bitpay had a $15K donation bounce because daily limit was set too low. Help spread the word! (self.Bitcoin)

submitted 4 minutes ago by julanrouge

A week ago, I made this announcement here that Literacy Bridge was accepting bitcoin donations.

An awesome anonymous donor then tried to make a $15,000 BTC donation on Dec 24 but it errored out because Bitpay daily limit for that nonprofit was $10K/day. The donor was not told what went wrong -- their submit would have likely just failed. So their donation never went through and Literacy Bridge now has no way of contacting the potential donor to have them try again or even say thanks for trying.

It would be great if we could spread the word to try to see if we can help that generous individual try again. /r/bitcoin, I believe in you!

Thank you!

could they even legally take an anonymous donation that big without worrying about aml/kyc compliance?

i'd quite forgotten about karl-friedrich lenz until today, but going back to his blog is a quite surreal experience, the formost topics being german constitutional law, reviews of "cli-fi" (climate change fiction) books and his own bizarre masterpiece with negative rape time travel

he's also written a 215 page book about bitcoin law in japan, which sadly contains no reference to negative rape and is incredibly boring except for some starting tidbits about the mtgox protestors

he also got some various people to draw him, and the result is far more flattering but also super creepy

maybe since it's going through Coinbase they just need to verify Coinbase? idfk how any of those laws work, but presumably Coinbase has to do aml/kyc on anyone sending that big of a transfer to them so maybe they can just leapfrog it

there are two set of requirements, one on the side of coinbase, one on the side of the non-profit, probably, depending on it's charter and local laws
