It reminds me of the backup camera in my father in law's new Subaru. Will there be parallel docking in this game? I think the visceral tension of trying to slot into a bay without scratching nacelles in as few T-turns as possible is the frontier of next-gen space sims.

well there's no mud in space so only horribly risky parking will make this remotely as good as Spintires.

Oh god why didn't you quote this quote:Fixed a spawn bug on spent shell casings. They’re little goofy but make shooting feel cooler and give you a sense of your true velocity since they inherit. They also burn bright for a few seconds before cooling off. Also about that "space road" hud element, I feel like it could help show hints to true vector by bending / distorting in a way that is influenced by your projected future path. It would be really weird, almost the opposite of the normal space dust method, but I'd love to see what that would look like because it might be kickin rad. Space dust is old hat, space roads are the new thing.

It's a bit different from Ubisoft selling "Aiden Pearce's Iconic Cap."

The one thing I'd like to see are those really nice glass effects, like in Mechwarrior Online. It gives the cockpit that much more presence. This is something I would also love to play with my Rift, though depending on the release date it'll either be with CV1 or DK1.

Are those round displays on the upper right and left side of these apparently triple screen images supposed to be perfect circles? I've been bitching about the triple screen support in Elite:Dangerous since they just do a single viewport and span it across whatever Surround/Eyefinity spanned display resolution rather than doing three separately tweakable cameras so you can actually get rid of the fish-eye effect on the outer monitors (not to mention bezel compensation), and I'm curious if you guys are taking the same path? Have you guys checked out this slideshow thing from Kunos (the folks that developed Assetto Corsa) in regards to triple screen and Rift solutions? http://www.slideshare.net/Codemotion/virtual-reality-sim-racing-in-assetto-corsa-romagnoli

I've tried it a couple times but can never get it to look right. I mean, it's just a bunch of cubemap trickery, but for some reason it always looks weird or intrusive with the rest of the art style. The glass will crack when you take damage now, but that's all I have time for at the moment. It's a great idea though. These are neat slides, thanks for linking them! Unfortunately, I think triple+ screen is about as supported as it's going to get right now. It doesn't stretch the UI and you can adjust the FOV, but any extra work will take a bunch of time I don't have. It's funny to see the Assetto Corsa guys admit they break the VR comfort rules (Starfighter does too). I am working on the new shops at the moment, and so I don't have to spend weeks making a new shopkeeper ship or whatever you buy stuff from eyes of Sauron. These portals have been hidden in artifacts scattered throughout the galaxy a loooong time ago.

Lore-wise it's a good explanation for a lot things -- like how your opponents are helpless to stop the onslaught at the source because your source is behind the Eye of Terror. Gameplay wise I don't have to worry about some "protect the mothership" mission, or doing things like luring a battlegroup that's chasing me back to my awesome battlestation to get help. The eye of sauron provides, but it does not protect. Also all the "I don't have time" sounds like you are nearing some sort of internal deadline to get this thing into release or early access or whatever distribution you're planning on. Good luck! but also etc

Quick comment on the cockpit glass, the BF3 stuff is way overdone I'd say, take a look at the next few seconds of this vid from DCS.. http://youtu.be/jxXljSzstO0?t=3m14s That'd be what I'd like.. subtle reflections unless you get sunlight going through the length of the glass, then you see the crystal stuff. But, honestly, that'd probably be hard to notice in a current gen rift given the resolution issues.

Bolow posted:Don't worry MWO does it by plastering a lovely 2d sprite over your cockpit so technically they can't even do it right Even better, the 'skill' portion of MWO is trying to keep your shooty cursor on target through shaking and the crap it throws on your screen, with the 'effects' being part of the game. Personally it pisses me off.
