Yea while my knowledge of them before today was mostly second hand through French family that was big fans, I feel like, being Roma and all, they'd have at least mentioned 'gently caress their racist rear end politics though'. Like yea, have I thought every thing they ever did was tasteful? Nah, I thought more than a couple were downright lazy shock jokes...but that doesn't change that most of their history has been super anti-racist/pro-liberty and poo poo. So, yea they loving are martyrs, they were a voice for unity against tyranny and they had a good bit of their talent murdered because the exact tyranny they argued against was mad, if they're not martyrs for free speech I'd love to know who are.

Listen it's sad that 10 people got murdered but some of the cartoons they did were problematic so we shouldn't feel too sorry. No i don't know anything about Charlie Hebdo or the anti-clerical traditions of the French Left? Why do you ask? One of the cartoonists was Georges Wolinsky, an 80 year old

It's from a semi-official Banksy Instagram account, so it's purposely ambiguous as to whether it really is him or not. Regardless it's real powerful imagery.

Idk but getting mad over people discussing the impact of an event even shortly after it occurs strikes me as the same people who bitch about college and higher education. I mean the whole "oh lets not talk politics now" ordeal is exactly the thing gun nuts use post every single gun related tragedy. No matter what side your on the discussion of an event should never be censored no matter how "to soon" it is.
