I find demonic corruption to be the more likely answer.

At some point, when you are trying to achieve that much efficiency with so little artistic merit, why are you even a comic book artist anymore?

Also it's not like Land was an artist dedicated to his craft who was driven to producing porn-traces through stress and deadlines, that's just how he works and he doesn't see anything wrong with it. As long as Marvel is prepared to keep passing him work, why wouldn't he take stacks of cash to flip through his archive of nudes?

All these huge fake model smiles, and yes I know that's because that's what he's tracing, but it's just soooo loving dumb.

I can only imagine the clusterfucks that DC and Marvel have gotten up to.

When I went back and read Birds of Prey, I was amazed that it was Greg Land drawing the series. I think his tracing and recycling began there, as I remember that his later issues started to recycle poses or something. It's been a while since I read the series.

There was an interview recently where he was talking about doing Spider-Woman and he was talking about his current Marvel books saying he had lobbied for Marvel to let him do the recent all female X-book cos that's what he really likes drawing but they said no, then the editor of Spider-Woman approached him to do Spider-Woman cos it was "his kind of book", this was also the same editor that thought that Manara cover was a good idea. Comics!

Everyone's really afraid of talking poo poo about anyone else for fear of getting blackballed from one or both of the Big Two, or even just blackballed from some of the bigger alternatives like Image. There's not that much money in comics, it's suicide to remove one of the like 5 places you can work at just to gossip.

Mr. Sinister doesn't dress like a stripper, he's nude all the time and you'll never get tips with the entire package on display from the get go.
