So by chance I saw somewhere that Therion had an album released in 2012 and decided to check it out.

Making it all in French (the most metal of languages) is certainly something Therion would do. All cover songs is also cool. But they're not, like Trust or something, but mostly pop songs form 60s apparently. Worst of all, the one I think works the best is Poupée de cire poupée de son... which is a '65 Eurovision winner. I'm now quite scared and confused :stonklol:

Just stop listening to anything after Obsolete, it really goes to poo poo. Lynchpin is loving terrible and then it turned to them trying way to hard to recapture the magic of Demanufacture.

I adored that band in high school back in the day and listened to Obsolete daily, but after Lynchpin came out I couldn't stand them anymore.

I was introduced to them with Lynchpin and didn't like it at all, so I never really caught on to the better stuff. I might have to go back and revisit Fear Factory.

Like probably a lot of people, my introduction to Fear Factory was about 20 years ago in the first Mortal Kombat movie, which had a fantastic soundtrack. You should definitely check out Demanufacture at the very least. As was mentioned, everything up to and including Obsolete is pretty solid.

But I still can't blame you. Almost everything else since Obsolete has been horrible. The only good thing that comes to mind is the very first song off Transgression.

I'm strongly considering going to the Death DTA concert in Copenhagen in March, but only for the support acts.

They're touring with Massacre and Loudblast.
And some band called Abysmal Dawn who I dont know.

But Massacre and Loudblast should be worth it, can always leave before the Death tribute band starts playing Symbolic.

As someone who was into them since SOANM, I found The Industrialist pretty boring. Archetype was pretty much been their only good album since Obsolete. The lineup poo poo the bed again after that because Burt decided he was Fear Factory and nobody else, and forgot to tell the rest of them before making another album. If they'd just bury all their hatchets and go back to the classic lineup of Bell/Cazares/Wolbers/Herrera, they'd probably be worth listening to again.

Definitely check em out, saw them last month and it was a good show. They also had Gene Hoglan so that made the show infinitely better (the guy from Cynic is awesome but, come on, Gene loving Hoglan).

Also Abysmal Dawn rules

There was some dust up where the guitarist was bitching about Death's management (who also happens to be their management as well) and they ended up getting dropped from the tour, which then led to half the band quitting.

Napalm Death + Voivod + Exhumed, that is (and two openers that are probably decent in Iron Reagan and Black Crown Initiate).

there's a grand total of one metal band i despise more than pantera

the faceless

gently caress pantera and their insipid hypermasculine tuff-guy bullcrap

anyways on the topic of amazing brutal death metal song titles, i bring you Artery Eruption. "I poo poo Preemies" and "Suddenly Vaginal" are pure gold.

A couple guys managed to re-record St. Anger and make it sound better than Metallica. The vocals are hilariously close to Hetfield's, but the best part is they managed to cut 15 minutes off the album length.

Album still sucks though.

i like that one song no wait actually riff they ahve in the song about area 51 with the coast to coast audio

also i don't know if there's really any "groove" metal bands i like but i'm really into Textures (aside from the new album) where the first album is like early-era Meshuggah worship crossed up with heavy Pantera influences but I don't really like Pantera so it's weird that those albums are so good...

My friend played me some of their album. All I heard was just huge bombastic orchestra over blast beats nonstop. Gets pretty dull IMO.
