I wonder if anyone in the 15th century told people that they were relying too much on movable type, or maybe people in the 19th century saying no, we shouldn't put up telegraph lines, we should just put up decorative wooden poles to remind us of the dangers of technology

Using this substitution method will allow individuals to have access to the Fauxn while doing things which require attention, such as driving, spending time with their friends and family, enjoying nature, exercising, and being better people.

Oh man I want this guy to just walk into traffic.

Yes. 'Technology is ruining everything' and 'kids today are assholes' are two of the staple sentiments of humanity.

I do think that as a society we are becoming way too focused on our devices/screens and not experiences/people but this guy is just a pretentious prick who has a found an extremely obnoxious and overcomplicated way to get his point across. Instead of authoring some interesting perspective on the topic he is going for a cash grab on something that's only use is to pull out and feel superior to other people. I'd have a hard time not punching someone who pulled that thing out while we were out together to mock my use of technology in their presence.

Whatever happened with the "Tesla" Museum? Last I hear they were scrambling just to buy the land and hadn't even done anything yet.

EDIT: Just looked at the Exploding Kittens KS.

People aren't this dumb, are they? There's no gameplay there.

Turn over card, get "kitten card", loose game. But wait, you can draw a card to skip your turn! Or a card to "diffuse" a kitten card so you don't loose. Or a card to do "something" that's completely unexplained and likely, at this point, completely not thought out or planned!

Sounds like something you'd place once or twice and then never again.

I had to read the whole thing twice just to make sure, but that's it. You just flip cards in turns. It has almost zero strategy to it.
I bet they could have easily sign a deal for a proper board/card game with someone who actually knows how to make one. Or make another official Munchkin reskin. Instead they just came up with the stupidest game mechanic ever. gently caress.

Its UNO, you silly goons. Have you never played UNO? Its a reskinned UNO with funnier cards than just numbers and "skip a turn".

It has pretty much zero strategy. You get to pick what cards to play, but its just picking from the cards in your hand, and they're not that different. But that's just like Monopoly or most other games that mainstream people play, not super nerd games like Settlers of Catan. (I like nerdy board games, but you've gotta admit most people play poo poo like chutes and ladders. Or Yahtzee. Pure dice rolls. Lack of strategy isn't really a thing mainstream people give a poo poo about. They suck at strategy.)

It comes from the stupid American "If you come up with a genius idea, you can retire and rake in millions without being technical or doing any hard work" which is total bullshit.

A genius idea can make you tons of money, but unless you get insanely lucky you've also gotta work hard to market it and develop a product using it, or otherwise get some kind of patent you can license.

He's a goddamn marketing genius. Everything he does is cool and calculated to maximize clickbait and profit. He's the master of Web2.0. It didn't surprise me at all that he worked in SEO before starting The Oatmeal.

...The card game IS dumb, but also calculated as well.

EDIT: The Tesla Museum is kinda sketchy but not nowhere near full blown "Sohmer take the money and run and then start more kickstarters level" yet.

Physicists get so many unsolicited emails from weirdoes claiming that they've cracked the next big paradigm shift in Physics but they just need someone to "run the equations" for them that they've actually devised a point scoring 'Crackpot Index' for rating such emails.
