What baffles me is the "dink it forward half a yard to mate who tees it up for him" routine. Is that simply because he has such a specific range/position he wants to strike it from?
|
# ? Jan 30, 2015 14:24 |

Either that or force the wall to break up I suppose

# ? Jan 30, 2015 14:24 |

Closer to the wall and kicked late means it's hard for the wall to react and even harder for the keeper to know what's going on.

You'd have thought with how often he goes for the low corners and scores more players would copy him

Eau de MacGowan posted:What baffles me is the "dink it forward half a yard to mate who tees it up for him" routine. Is that simply because he has such a specific range/position he wants to strike it from? Opens up a few inches of space which in theory is enough to get the ball past the wall.

That close, on the near post, yeah that's been done plenty of times, it's rare as a % of free kicks but loving hell even kids in school do it if the keepers angle is dodgy. The right kick from that spot can be impossible to see with a wall depending on the quirks of positioning. All up to the keeper. Brendan Rodgers posted:Sometimes the keeper wants to keep his view clear come on don't be an American. Yeah why would the keeper want a wall when the free kick is on the edge of the box almost directly in front of goal, is an incredibly difficult place to score from with no wall and only the keeper to beat when when he stays on his line

Hardly romantic, but there you go. The search for Juninho's secret had become an obsession for me, to the extent that it occupied my every waking thought. It was at the point of maximum exertion that the dam burst, in every sense of the term. The magic formula was all about how the ball was struck, not where: only three of Juninho's toes came into contact with the leather, not his whole foot as you might expect.

I'm having trouble picturing how you send a ball 35+ yards with three toes and put it exactly where it needs to go. Not saying I want to replicate it because lol I'm a trash player, but it would be neat from an informational standpoint. Edit: Something like a practice video.
