Edit: There's something special about ramming heavy tanks to death in an E-50 and taking puny amounts of damage for it. Tiny compact IS, IS-3 and IS-6 tanks can't deal with 62 tons of steel!

I used my E-50M, got Redshire and Tahirovic and I had to triple tap (t shot, me shot, me ram) to get the last T-62A or Leopard 1 or something before the swarming pubbies could reload.

The first time a blood red JPE said "I have to do 1000 damage without being spotted" I laughed. The second time I started playing mid tiers.

That has stupid mission text, you only need to do 1000 damage before you get spotted, as I found out in my 704 when my second shot blew my camo, again on loving Redshire. JpE should pretty much be doing that first attempt without fail.

gently caress if I know, I only played one battle in it yet, and I even forgot to bring gold ammo and consumables. I'm not a smart person.

Seriously though, I think getting those missions is less a matter of being extremely good and poopsocking and more a matter of planning carefully, bringing the best tank possible for the mission and getting lucky (good map/team that isn't too poo poo or too good). I mean, I managed to get HT15, TD15 and LT15 with honor (all of them) on the same day by playing the VK4502B (10 tries, maybe?) T30 (about 8 tries to get 5k damage) and WZ132 (that one was a real pain tho). Having a platoon of competent people to help you with some objectives is also a godsend (repping my good buddies GiantHurtBall and l33tc4k3). Also don't hesitate to be smart and exploit the wording of the missions : doing 3 times your hp in damage as a JPE100 is going to be much harder than doing about 1000 hp in a decent T67 game. Killing 5 tanks of 3 different types is going to be much easier and relaxing in a churchill III (it moves forward and shoots fast) platoon than in a E100 (it moves forward but doesn't really shoot fast) platoon.

Then of course you have the total rear end in a top hat missions like "set an enemy on fire", "capture the base", "do damage while unspotted" that only exist to be as annoying and luck-based as humanly possible.

For the StuG IV? You'll be happy to know that for the T28 Concept they took it from 1k damage and cap, to 2k damage and cap. :downs:

In other news, the loving pubbies just do not want to win:

It was encounter, my platoonmate sat in cap for 2min trying to stave off the enemy team capping us out, then they finally pushed in and killed him. Meanwhile I was killing half the enemy team all by my lonesome! gently caress, one more shot and I would've finished TD-15, but they capped us out.

I just want my snowflake stug. And the credits. Screw the other things.

Also, I got TD-15 on a loss with my JP2. I was surrounded by the enemy team after everyone died and said "gently caress it,face hug this IS-8." Got 4030 or some poo poo like that.

I agree having a lot tanks to pick from makes some of these missions a lot easier. TD mission to do 1000 damage to moving targets, hello deathstar! For the heavy missions I find the E-100 to be my main pick, just so easy to get a lot of damage in and carry. SPG missions were kind of a joke in the LeFH and the T92. Oh I have to hit 3 tanks at once.... good thing I have 12m splash!

The LeFH is cheating to begin with.

Yeah, I'm stuck on this bullshit mission. I'm pretty frustrated because I've come within 20 damage of satisfying the requirements of that mission on four different occasions. That's what I get for trying to grind it out with my KV-1S and Churchill III.

I've also tried it with my IS-3, KV-5, and T-34, but I haven't had much luck. It's a lot easier to deal enough damage, but I'm finding it harder to end matches by capping at higher tiers.

You really really want a platoon for this. Go the flank lesser travelled, make sure they let you do your damage, then pile on the cap. 3 people capping is one hell of a lot easier than trying for it solo.

That's the one I'm on just now, unleashing my inner pubbie. I don't really have many heavy tanks just now, just E75, Black Prince and 50 100 which aren't that ideal for fastcapping.

That is true but then I tend to play my 50 100 as a support tank, adding fast damage whilst more robust tanks push. I just need to play it more aggressively to try and force the cap I guess.

I got it in my WZ-111 model 1-4 by stealing about three points of cap from some other tanks who were capping while the rest of my team attempted to hunt down a medium. Just drive directly for the cap in a tank that has a high damage per shot and hope for the best.

WTFE-100 is the easiest tank to do the TD missions in.

It's not, and that's the funny thing. It really looks like it could be, but it's from 1972, four years after the S-tank entered service.

It's one of the S-tank's spiritual successors. After they put the S-tank in service they started a long running experimental program with various more or less crazy vehicles to figure out what kind of weirdo thing they should develop to succeed it. The program was called UDES, which stands for Utredning Direkt Eld Stridsfordon (something like Experimental Direct-Fire AFV, but it's a really clunky phrase in Swedish) and that thing was one of the first experimental vehicles. It was called UDES 03 and was supposed to weigh 25-30 tons and have a crew of two. It was also supposed to have both an elevating gun and an elevating chassis. Since the budget for a full scale development program for a new tank never materialized, they just kept this experimental program going well into the 80's, and one of its many branches eventually lead - by a long and winding path - to the CV90 IFV.

If you want to see a ton of crazy tank mockups (and a few real experimental vehicles), look no further, just click this here link: http://www.ointres.se/udes.htm (in Swedish, but it's mostly pictures).
