Men in Blazers is alright as an American-tinged podcast, but unfortunately they have so many unfunny in-jokes that there's a wiki for all of them.

Goddamn that African Cup of Nations report :stare:

edit: for those that don't listen to Football Weekly Eq Guinea v Tunisa, bad tunisian team and a really defence Guniean team. Tunisia score and just waste time and piss the referee off who gives away a "suspicious" penalty to Guinea, Guinea score and wins in extra time and there is a riot on and off the pitch

Ya that was good poo poo.

Have to say that FW feels like it's getting better, but maybe its because the Ramble doesn't quite hit the highs of Police Machine these days.

Ramble punditry is getting a bit cliched if you ask me. I think as long as FW has no Steinberg or Ingle it's generally better.

The problem is that autistic goons can recognize their own kind.

Julien Laurens is pretty good on this week's The Times podcast, which didn't have Marcotti on this week. Next week Jimbo is off from FW :ohdear:

Isn't Steinberg quite young? I seem to remember some mentions of him being in his early 20s when he was first on FW. Maybe he's just matured a bit.

I know people don't really like The Times one, but other than James Scowcroft who is just ridiculously biased towards United, the guests are usually very good.

I think The Times podcast has gotten significantly better since Patrick Barclays stopped going and started having Rory Smith and Julien Laurens more often.

Definitely. Paddy Barkley was annoying and while Gab has his moments, they generally discuss the games a bit better than Football Weekly does.

Absolutely. He was terrible. I genuinely have no idea how he became chief football writer for a major newspaper, his opinions were uniformly awful. Also, lets not forget this:

Classy.

I can see why people find Marcotti annoying at times, but I think he's a great Devil's advocate and is really good at getting an debate going.

Devil's advocate is one thing but he's so adamant that all his crazy contraire opinions are so right and doesn't stop smugly belting on about them.

I enjoyed the Max Rushden one, the random anecdotes and riffs when they're funny can be brilliant and breaks up the same chit chat of footy I hear when I listen to 3-4 podcasts a week anyway.

I think that was the smug Zonal Marking guy.

Steinberg's so miserable I can't take listening to him anymore.

Also what's up with Sid Lowe never answering his phone, I like to imagine its a Father Larry Duff situation

I can see what you mean about Marcotti, but I quite like him. I can see why others might not, though. I read a few of his articles for the Blizzard when I had a sub for it and they were really good too.

Well he travels all over the country, so coverage on train routes is often pretty poor, though I love the idea of it being like Larry Duff.

I also listen to 4 podcasts (Football Weekly, Ramble, The Times, Dummy), and I actually appreciate Gab asking pointed questions even if he's wrong for a little diversity of opinion. Sometimes he'll get someone to say something interesting while Weekly and even Ramble just spout some cliched platitude.

Acast is intended to be not just a podcast host, so I'd be surprised if they surface a useful rss anywhere. There's an acast-specific app that you're encouraged to use after all.

Basically savage is at an awards ceremony sitting next to a jockey. Barry Glendenning is either accepting or giving out an award and makes a joke that this jockey is having the roughest ride of his life sitting next to savage (every one laughs).

Savage (who doesn't even drink and was sober) completely freaks out and has to be escorted out of the venue.

Lmao at the Football Weekly "walk out stories"

James askes them if they've ever walked out of a film, and one of them says Birdman :psyduck: and James asks the next person "is there anything else you've walked out of... Citizen Kane, for example?"

Football Journos are horrible spergs with bad tastes in films confirmed.

It boggles the mind that Savage not only gets work, but gets work paid by the public purse from the BBC. He's a walking representation of everything wrong with football.
