This can backfire a little bit though. For a variety of reasons I didn't play that much of the PS2 library up until about 2008 and only recently have I more or less finished my backlog of that system.

Haha, I still have a PS2 backlog. I haven't even plugged it in since I moved to where I live now, which was 5 years ago.
Gonna finish that backlog one day. No, really.

32 GB is plenty. I was doing fine with a 16 GB and had plenty of space. I upgraded to a 32 though because it was so cheap!

Hey, now that it's been a few months and the hype has died down, do people still like Fantasy Life? I'm still kind of interested in getting it and it sounds like the kind of game my wife would love since she's bonkers for Harvest Moon, but chatter about that game has dropped straight to zero around here.

Personally I think it's a tad boring to play single-player, but it's a lot more fun to play with a friend (not download-play though, both players need a copy of the game). You don't even really have to worry about killing each other with dick moves, because you don't lose a life unless you're both dead / bubbled at the same time.

Final Q - is it a standard USB charging slot? I know they don't include a charger in the box, just wondering whether I actually need to get one at all, or whether it's the same as, say, the cable for the WiiU Pro Controller.

What about Story of Seasons? It's coming out pretty soon, although I don't know how hyped up it is. Apparently it's the "real" Harvest Moon, even though it is no longer allowed to call itself Harvest Moon :iiam:

No, it's a proprietary connector. You will need to go to Gamestop or Amazon or the NOA online store or something to get one.

I followed the guide and did the system transfer, no problem. Then I copied the contents of my 3DS' SD card to a new 32GB microSD, via PC/USB.

GBA on 3DS is a hackjob. It basically drops the 3DS into DS mode and loses a lot of functionality because of it. The games "don't meet" Nintendo's standards so they refuse to release them elsewhere.

3DS uses SDHC cards, which are formatted as Fat32 and come in a maximum capacity of 32gb. You can also get higher capacity SDXC cards (e.g. 64gb, 128gb) which come formatted with a newer filesystem exFat. You can use an SDXC card on the 3DS fine if you format it as Fat32, though you may need to track down a program to do that for you in Windows. Physically SDHC and SDXC are the same, the capacity/filesystem thing seems to be to ensure wider compatibility with different devices.

32gb will be fine unless you're planning on having a really massive library of games digitally on the card at all times.

Once I do the system transfer, in order to upgrade my SD card can I do the ol' drag n dump to PC?

I have to say that the New 3DS is reminding me so much of the upgrade from GBA to GBA-SP... it's like I can finally experience these games for the first time. I'm actually having a ton of fun with old games like Pilotwings and Ridge Racer simply because the 3D finally works and I can see the games for how they were meant to be seen. Also, playing rhythm games in 3D is blowing my mind... previously the amount of tapping prevented me from even considering playing games like Theatrhythm or Rhythm Thief in 3D, but now I wouldn't think of not playing them in 3D.

The GBA Ambassador games don't do any of that.

My point is you may have a formatting problem. I assume you still have to SD card from or files. Nintendo has a formatting tool you can get to format the microsd and then try putting data on it.

If that doesn't work then ???

You can go to the eshop and try to download a game you k ow you bought to see if your licence transfered properly. You may have lost your saves if nothing works but you can redownload stuff.

Basically I did:

1. Use the tool from Nintendo's help page to format the new micro SD.
2. Put that in N3DS, did the system transfer, said yes at the erase option.
3. Transferred the 3DS SD contents to micro SD.
4. No data!

I still have the original contents on the SD card though. Was I supposed to do that save backup thing from the settings menu?

I was hoping you maybe chose the "quick transfer" (forget what it's actually called) like I did, since all you'd have to do is redownload the game and then it automatically restores the saved data. Strange it's not doing that for the digital stuff.

e: also, for those that have issues with the 3D tracking, do you have Milhouse thick lenses that can set ants on fire if you held them out in the sun? Maybe the IR tracker can't "see" your eyes because of how intense your prescription is? Would astigmatism affect it?

If you don't have any eShop games or any save data, it sounds like you didn't copy things across correctly. Make sure that you copy the full "Nintendo 3DS" folder (or whatever it's called) from the old SD card to your PC, then copy that entire folder to the root of the microSD. There shouldn't be anything else on the microSD.
