We made trout fillets for the first time tonight. (These were raw rainbow trout fillets, not the smoked ones.) This is probably the single best ratio of mindlessly easy to prepare to amazing result of anything I have ever made. Pardon the mildly unphotogenic lemon wheel. We had zested a few lemons for the lemon cupcakes last weekend, and we saved them since it was just the zest missing. I used half of one of the lemons for the juice, and the other half went to the garnish. EDIT: Never done this before since I have barely cooked any fish ever, but thanks to the GWS hivemind for the all-important "Don't gently caress with it" advice. Skin came out crispy and delicious. guppy fucked around with this message at 02:02 on Feb 19, 2015 |

Well, it was pizza night again. Modernist Cuisine Neapolitan pizza recipe, prosciutto, fresh tomatoes, fresh oregano, minced garlic, mozzarella. Sauce is just pureed tomatoes. It was so good that I finished a whole pie like half an hour ago and I wish I had another one in front of me right now.

No pictures but to combat this ridiculous cold I made some white bean soup with turkey sausages, roasted butternut squash, and had a nice piece of pretzel bread with it. Not only did it look completely unappetizing, but I ate too much of it before I even thought of snapping a photo, because it was loving delicious.

Made a sloppy joe with an Italian roll and a (fake?) piece of cheddar, so with all that authentic stuff going on, I figured I could throw some lao gan ma crispy chilli into the filling as well, and I did.

^^YUM I especially love the fact that you have described your pizza as a parallelogram. I've only recently gotten over my red velvet obsession (The cupcakes that a couple of you posted looked awesome! In regards to the duck egg thing, it doesn't so much affect the flavor, as much as the texture and mouthfeel---at least in my opinion). So yes, I made these red velvet things: red velvet donuts (baked...which is far inferior to a fried donut, but oh well) red velvet molten cakes some guac mushroom risotto with porcini powder and creamed leeks roasted pork banh mi with pickled carrot and daikon, quick-pickled cucumber, pork pate, roasted pork, kewpie, sriracha, cilantro, and jalapeņo a really good moscow mule:

It's been cold as poo poo, it snowed all night, rained all day. Threw some veggies, chicken, beans, sausage, and broth, in the crockpot, shoveled snow for 2 hours, then waited (3 more agonizing hours) and ended up with this. Sides of the crockpot don't look so pretty, certainly not as good as what you're all putting out, but gently caress it, I got soup so what do I care?

I was craving French toast, but I didn't want plain French toast. Peanut butter was on sale that day. So I made peanut butter and banana French toast, with crunchy peanut butter and whole wheat bread. My family loved it, and I would definitely make it again. plasmoduck posted:I love Mapo tofu and red cabbage but really can't imagine them together...how was it? The shredded and fried cabbage, tossed with brown sugar and salt, worked very nicely. Homemade mushroom and sauerkraut perogies and braised red cabbage with apple, bacon and balsamic vinegar. I'd made the perogies before (they are awesome, though a fair amount of work) but it was the first time for the cabbage. It was also pretty tasty although surprisingly sweet just from the apples and vinegar. e: added links for recipes colonel_korn fucked around with this message at 02:31 on Feb 23, 2015 |
