today i tried to use evince, the gnome 3 pdf reader. they replaced all the file, edit, etc menus with a loving "hamburger" button, like i'm using a 7" ipad mini and can't use real menus. but that's not enough. they hosed up dpi independence, so the "hamburger" button is so small i can barely click it with my mouse. it's maybe an eighth of an inch. if i tried to use the touchscreen, it would be completely impossible to hit. this is a 220 dpi screenshot, so the scrollbars and window title are a normal width/size. it's all the buttons that are hosed up.

the black border is actually part of the stupid thing. they draw their own window decorations, and gnome 3 applications will draw a shadow for themselves even if you are not using gnome 3 and no other windows on your desktop have shadows.

that's a gnome app? looks like early kde 4 lol

he's running it in kde, so kde has injected its terrible theme. I wouldn't be surprised if the kde theme was the reason the buttons are the wrong size.

Notorious b.s.d. posted:it's xwd: x window dump weird, I can't imagine why an obsolete screenshot program that predates alpha channels and uses an image format that doesn't support alpha channels would gently caress up capturing a partially transparent window

xwd dumps to its own format, and captures the alpha correctly, but i converted it to png. so that's my fault. it's still really jackassed, as an app author, to paint your own window controls and a loving window shadow. there's a reason i don't use winamp, you know?

That location is a really important location. Usually, you can put some kind of action there, you know, like a plus sign to add something, or an edit button. remove "bloat", people complain put "bloat" in a menu, people complain what are we supposed to do
