It wasn't really meant as a burn I was just curious and wanted to map it out. I'd have done OPS for position players but that would've meant an extra Player Statistics tab for totals and extended and going back in time and blah blah I stopped short. If anyone else wants something mapped I could do a range or selection of seasons as a time killer if you have a curiosity

We're at the end of spring training, just about, so, barring any unexpected changes, here are your S31 Chicago Barons STARTING LINEUP C Julio Beltran: Pretty decent young catcher man. 1B Hector Cabeza: Hella dingers, hella strikeouts. 2B Haywood Cameron: Hi shiny new MIF toy. Still not 100% on my up the middle defensive alignment. 3B Carlos Sivilla: Plus defensive 3B who isn't a total liability with the bat. SS Les Witt: Keep developing, dude. I believe in you. LF Diego Peralta: Owns. CF Edward Fleming: Probably my most 'meh' starter but look at that range. RF Julio Blanco: Still a cool dude. DH Trot Henley: Not the greatest possible bat but a decent DH. BENCH C Vinny Kobayashi: Probably the best $700k I'm spending this season. COF Jimmy Gaetti: Steals bases, does like nothing else. I wish I could tell Sparky to only use him to pinch steal at the end of close games. MIF Christian Okajima: Late-game defensive replacement. UTIL Hunter Peters: Moderately more useful than Gaetti because he has actual defensive value. UTIL Javier Sierra: Like the only halfway decent bench bat I have. ROTATION SP Jimmie Garces: Old but still owns. SP Del Lorenzo: Maybe not a typical top of the rotation guy but he's pretty alright. SP Brandon Jackson: My rotation isn't super amazing though. SP Socks Cashman: I love old pitchers who still own. Also he is named Socks. SP Asdrubal Valenzuela: Look, it's a fifth starter. Woo. BULLPEN LR Houston Strickland: That's Big Offseason Acquisition Houston Strickland to you, buster. LR Vladimir Cruz: Vlad is a fifth starter/swingman type I slotted into long relief. Okay. SU Bo Chamberlain: YOU DON'T KNOW BO SU Rafael Romero: Pretty good young reliever. SU Shooter Mercker: See Rafael Romero SU Gary Griffin: See Shooter Mercker SEASON PREDICTION: 96-66, 2nd in the division, 1st WC slot, loses in first round. Your Season 31 New York Metropolitans (Projected after 20 games): Lineup #1 Sean Stein*, 2B: Puts up good offensive numbers and bad SB/CS ratios. #2 Chip Steele, LF: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ngSsaSimi8A #3 Willie Arencibia*, C: Hoping he'll bounce back to putting up elite offensive numbers for a catcher after a down year. #4 James "Jimmy" Page, RF: CHEAP DINGERS CHEAP DINGERS CHEAP DINGERS #5 Jaime "Hi-May" Walcutt, 1B: Terrible 1B defense, like wow what the gently caress am I doing, but I hope he'll be able to repeat or add to his rookie season's ~.830 OPS. #6 Don Magruder, 3B: Bad 3B defense, with a league average bat. Not long for this starting lineup once I find someone in FA next season. #7 Pablo Espinosa, CF: I realized too late that Charlotte has an insane clowndick hitter's park, but I'll settle for slightly less than good defense in center with 20HR power. #8 Ronnie Harper, SS: Beloved of God (jeff) and myself, this saintly little lamb is a defensive genius and puts up an acceptable OBP with laughable power. #9 Pitcher Rotation #1 John Swindell - Oh hell yeah. vR 90!!! 95 velocity!!!! Are you ready for 170 innings of 3.50 ERA!!!!!!!! #2 I$mael Ayala - Got overpaid in FA, but he is still beautiful to me. Will pitch 200+ innings, which is a godsend because the rest of my pitchers are weak little low stamina babies. #3 David Lucano* - Freed from Art's clutches, turned out to be a good pitcher. #4 Aurelio Santos - Picked up for free in the Rule V last season, good stats but sort of uneven results. Had a HORRIFIC start last season before settling down and giving me 170 innings of 3.65 ball. Will pitch 5 innings in any given start. #5 Anibal "The Animal" Beltre - You all laughed when I gave him 3/21. Then last season he gave me 225 innings of 3.91 ERA ball!!!! WHO IS LAUGHING NOW?? Will be replaced by ROB ROMERO next season. Bench Elston Barker, OF - Veteran draped in past glories hired to play right field until Jimmy Page graduates, and then he'll be a nice bench bat on an affordable one-year contract. Fred McGeehee, 1B - Doing our part to fix nasboat's contract mistakes. Will play 1B when Walcutt has to play a spell at C when Arencibia gets tired 50 games in. Rod Whitman, OF - Disgraceful failure provides power off the bench until he becomes expensive or someone trades for him. Trade for him!! Lonny Scott, OF - Elite range, eye, and base-stealing at the expense of everything else. A fun, if limited, player. Jolbert Martinez, IF - drat, this guy's defense owns. Will probably be the one replacing Ronnie Harper when he gets old. Chipper Good, 2B/OF - A "Good" player, but actually maybe bad, but maybe actually good? Gets on base at a ~.350 clip, steals bases like someone who avoided the disastrous hiring of a bench coach as a 3B coach two seasons ago, and plays GG-level defense in the corners and sometimes 2B. I like him a lot, but he's a bit of an odd duck and if you like him you should trade me a good 3B for him. Whichever AAA catcher I decide on goes here Bullpen notables Wally Millwood - A good reliever, but most importantly he can throw ~120 innings in an up season, which is enormously helpful with a rotation made up of dudes who might not crack 200 innings as starters. Benny Cortez - Finally! 92 vR, but only 77 control. We'll see... Santiago Toca - Bad ratings, but was good last season and in this spring training. Maybe he has a good hidden rating? Will put up an ERA of 15.00 this season in 20 innings. Prediction: A winning record for the first time in 7 seasons as an owner. *Rescued from Art to a good and loving home TRADE FOR MIDRE OGANDO PLEASE tatankatonk fucked around with this message at 20:26 on Mar 7, 2015 |

Your Season 31 Salem Saberhagens: Lineup: RF Gill Hooper - The Experience put up his career-best slugging season in S30 and hopefully he can continue it; ridiculous RC numbers compared to the rest of the lineup 1B Vladimir Thompson - Since S24, he's hit 50+ dingers in all but one season, that season being S25 where he OPS'd over 1.000 while still hitting 45. 3B/2B(?) Nate Floyd - The Geraldo Fernandez of the Salem lineup, solid but overshadowed. Ideally playing 2B this season. LF Slim Green - Did so poorly in the playoffs that he went from not willing to re-sign to willing to re-sign for $4.6m/1 year. Third in qualifying RC27 among Saberhagens batters in franchise history (behind The Experience and Thompson) CF Alex Ransom - Had a career-best season after two career worst seasons back to back in S28/S29. Ending up in the middle would still be amazing production from CF. C Vinny Stewart - The Saberhagens have PC again! Shayne Kearns' bat will be missed, but I've always wanted Vinny and thought it was worth rolling the dice. 3B Everett Sierra - Sierra should be a COF, but when I was getting sick of Chris Harper toward the end of last season he handled like 20 games filling in just fine. There is a contingency plan, though. SS Gerardo Sanchez - RIP to his range, but who else is going to play SS, Eugene Porcello? He's won both a golden glove and a silver slugger before, and that's cool. Bench: 2B T.J. Miller - Co-star of HBO's Silicon Valley and here to stem the bleeding if Everett Sierra at 3B is a disaster. C Tom Smith - Backup C, primary pinch hitter if Sierra's starting, Vinny Stewart's Buddy RF Ernest Bates - It's getting to the end of my window to compete and he's an upgrade as a backup, call that sucker up. 3B Blaine Anderson - See: Ernest Bates. C De Aza Iglesias - Defensive C specialist to annoy AV and otherwise do nothing. Rotation: SP Chick Wehner - Reigning Cy Young winner, all-time ERA leader, holds basically all franchise rate stat records SP Geraldo Fernandez - The Willie Aquino of the rotation, consistent and solid compared to the two hit-or-miss guys behind him SP Yoo-Nah Kim - Tends to have an ERA of like 6.00 or like 2.00 in the first 30ish games and middles out from there. SP Lewis Stammen - Rose from the ashes in S30 to make his first ASG. Holds a lot of counting stat franchise records for pitchers. SP Rubby James - Here's your shot buddy! The last real call-up of the Salem prospect buildup before the team started getting old. Bullpen: SuA Todd Hutchinson - Appears in like 80 games every season and pitches really well over them, probably friends or rivals with Bo Chamberlain, 10-season Saberhagen SuA Willie Aquino - A bullpen fixture who's been with Salem for 8 seasons as SuA, possibly the Nate Floyd of the bullpen SuA Junior Rosa - Somehow an older Willie Aquino who did an admirable job last season SuA Alejandro Javier - I've never seen this guy before looking around in FA in the offseason, but he looks like he should be pretty good SuB Frank Hara - I kinda want to trade him to arthur so he can complete the NL West roster bingo. SuB Rigo Galvez - The spirit of Rigo Nunez lives on in the third-best Rigo I've had (Rigo Colon in like S21 mashed before falling off a cliff somewhere else) SuB Corey Parrish - Outside of Rubby James, he's the only guy under 31 in the entire pitching staff. Your Season 31 Hartford Focus! C - Alcides DeRojas (33) - .275/.335/.561 45HR 118RBI He's an aging catcher and while he's not the best defensively, he's adequate and will drive in runs. Dingers galore (42 and 45 in his 2 seasons in Hartford).Cool dude rating: 1B - Salvador Martin (24) - .295/.369/.539 37HR 121RBI A young slugger who looks to be the anchor at 1B for a decade in Hartford. 37HR in his first full season, and I look for that total to improve slightly. Cool dude rating: 2B - Alex Nieves (27) - .289/.367/.513 25HR 69RBI A good second baseman getting into his prime. Good production at the top of the lineup. An underrated player. Cool dude rating: SS - Julio Sosa (32) - .270/.319/.368 12HR 56RBI An aging SS, but he still has a good glove. His bat though. Cool dude rating: 3B - Slim Norton (29) - .313/.374/.580 41HR 123RBI A great hitting 3B in his prime. Switch hitting with plenty of power. I don't know why he isn't as good defensively as I think he should be. Cool dude rating: LF - Graham Abernathy (26) - .319/.386/.562 40HR 120RBI Former AL MVP. Robbed in the voting last year. He's a monster. Cool dude rating: CF - Alan Hayes (22) - .331/.38/.632 10HR 33RBI (in 136AB) ROTY. Book it. He'll be below average defensively (though with a plus arm) but his bat should play well in CF. Cool dude rating: RF - Arodys Vega (24) - .256/.329/.502 10HR 34RBI (in 203AB) ROTY. BOOK IT. My OF is full of cybernetic alien robots from the future sent back in time to destroy your pitching. You're welcome. Cool dude rating: DH - Howard Schierholtz (25) - .319/.388/.494 16HR 55RBI (in 348AB) A good young DH. I'm not sure how many dingers he'll produce, but he should be a solid ML hitter. Cool dude rating: Bench: IF - Shelby Huff (25) - Yeah, he can't hit. But he should be able to catch the ball while other guys are getting the day off. Not really a cool dude at all. Nasboat level. OF - Giomar Bournigal (29) - He's a good fielder and an okish hitter to fill in on off days. Not cool at all. Probably roots for the Seahawks. C - Harry Guerrero (31) - A good defensive catcher, he'll provide a solid veteran presence in the clubhouse. Ok dude. Probably listens to dadrock. Pitching: Who cares about pitching when your team is gonna hit balls over walls?!

Yeah I did auto recommendations like I always do after spring training just to get a starting point and sparky decided that Stuart Boyer (45 STA/74 DUR) was the best choice for a closer on my team. You know because being able to pitch the most innings and having the least amount of skill is the best qualification for pitching the 9th inning in games the team is winning.

I was actually feeling a tad tired of my team heading into the offseason but thankfully overturning a quarter of my roster sure helps rekindles interest Your season 31 Lineup: 2: Ezdra Suarez/"Better Call" Saul Morlan: One guy kinda hits dingers. One guy kinda runs. One plays against lefties. One plays against righties. Both call pitches well. 3: Carlos Eusebio: I've made an effort to trade him for like the last five seasons. That's probably a bad idea with his career .284/.345/.578 playoff line. He hits dingers and steals at a ridiculously high clip. 4: Eduardo "Edward White" Blanco: I...guess I'm playing him at 2B. I don't have a preferred 2B choice on the roster. Hits switch and has 88 baserunning, he's super dreamy. 5: Carlos Torres: Kind of uninteresting but good. Plus defense, nothing standout offensively, fits my team well with above average speed/baserunning. 6: Furio Martin: Good riddance Stu Roosevelt. He hit switch, he has good speed/baserunning, ...this seems familiar. His bat would be solid at 3B and he provides good SS defense, hard not to like him. 7: Rick Delcarmen: One of my longest tenured players. Gold Glove LF defense, steals bases, high OBP. He's honestly kinda boring but he's super good. 8: Melky Mareina: The Melkman has started to downswing with range and speed declining on roll. For now he's still a GG-caliber CF who steals 70+ bags with an acceptable OPS. 9: Omar Valdes: The Gamble, Part 1. Tex Watson was about as consistent as consistent gets. Valdes blew up last season. He's out of options so he starts right away. Hopefully he can still grow. Bench: Rubby Benavente: Partly why I tried to trade Eusebio this offseason. Will timeshare with Carlos but he's good enough to start. His speed makes me sad but he's at least a capable runner. PT Ontiveros: aka Poor Man's Bo Hall. Deserves to be on a team where he could start vs righties, feel free to give him a good home. Peter Newman: aka Rick Delcarmen. Seriously, the two are very similar but just different enough that you can explain away their severe performance difference. Plus Newman is strictly a 1B. Shane Swift: He can't hit, he can run, he plays a capable 2B and CF. He's a bench player alright! Starting Pitchers: Al Duchscherer: ererrerrerererr. The rock. His ERA has always disappointed a bit given his peripherals. More a #2 than an ace but he throws a ton of innings without getting hurt so I value him as much as one. Erubiel Sojo: The Gamble, Part 2. I traded Uncrowned MVP Haywood Cameron for a guy who can only throw 160-170 innings and has had two bad ML seasons. But I love his profile. So much. Here's hoping my starting pitcher magic (see: Bolick, Roosvelt) rubs off on him. Julian "The No-Hitter" Melendez: Back in the rotation to start the season since I couldn't find a trade I wanted to make for him. We'll see if he starts to age hard this season. Love those pitches. Armando Martinez: Basically a left-handed Roosevelt Bolick. And Bolick was #2 on my franchise career ERA list before he blew last season, so that's encouraging. Really though he's a back-end innings eater. Startpen: JT Matthews and Geoff Crosby: A mix of performance, injuries and dur/stam combos has both of these guys relegated to working as swingmen. I basically slot them in to the rotation based on the handedness weaknesses of any given opponent. Bullpen: SUA: Derrick Graves: gently caress YOU DERRICK GRAVES SUA: Osvaldo Espinosa: High control lefty to compliment Graves as the high control righty. Nothing to see here. SUA/B: Jarrett Melfi: low splits belie actual good performance. Control + Pitches goes a long way. He's usually set for SUA but my trust hasn't quite solidified in him and he kind of goes back and forth. SUB: Tom Jakubauskas: He has lots of cool ratings but 55 control. That's pretty much all you need to know. SUB: Carmen Tomlinson: Scrapheap signing. Has had some decent seasons, really don't need him to do much but eat low-leverage innings. I actually only have 24 ML spots filled, not sure who will fill the last spot. Not sure this team is better than last season but it's much more interesting to me and that's all that really matters.
