Yeah, that's kind of the whole point since the entire genre is built upon a goofy hyper-masculine circus show and it's why I laugh my rear end off when people get all huffy about their true metal bands being, this what you should really be listening too, man.

"In a time when dinosaurs walked the earth" sums up the entire metal experience. You're welcome to take it as seriously as you want, or... just have loving fun with it and enjoy it for what it is.

Metal is inherently silly, but it's a kind of camp - the silliness has to be played straight or it sucks. Bands that self consciously set out to be silly never do it well.

Yes.
Yeah that's from Tuomas Saukkonen, the guy behind Before the Dawn, Black Sun Aeon and Dawn of Solace. He shut all those down to just focus all his stuff under the Wolfheart title, afaik.

I used to really dig Before the Dawn, but this Wolfheart stuff hasn't really grabbed me for some reason, although it's good stuff. Then again I'm not that big on BtD these days, either.

If you guys like Wolfheart and don't mind some cheesy clean vocals, check those other titles out too. BtD is the Insomnium-esque melodeath one, the other two are somewhat more doomy.

That first heavy riff is actually pretty Opeth-ish, but with some uber-fast picking.

Might be the speakers I'm listening on, but is this awful production? The drums and guitars and vocals all sound so completely separate from each other as in like they're not playing the same song together.

Before the Dawn and Black Sun Aeon are great, but Saukkonen's projects can be accused of being pretty samey in places. Deathstar Rising (Before the Dawn) is a brilliant album, as is Routa (Black Sun Aeon). Routa is much doomier and almost has a goth metal vibe, Deathstar Rising is very Imsomnium-esque.

It's also good to note that you are more likely to find traditional women in rural areas. On my trip to Normandy in january this year i saw many 'traditional' french women. As long as we harshen the immigration system, those women will keep our breed pure. In the northernmost areas of Italy you'll find women of good breed, too.

Is there a band whose style is similar to "classical" Thrash Metal sound? Think Slayer's South of Heaven or Metallica's Master of Puppet or Anthrax's Among the Living. I'm asking because even these bands seem to have given up on that "sound." Nowadays everything is super heavy in Drop D or even Drop C. Also everything is kind of Death Metal these days (point in case, latest Sepultura). I miss the good all 80's Thrash Metal.

Is there a "current" band with that sort of style?
