Congress doesn't dislike Obama because he's black, Congress dislikes Obama because he's a Democrat without the ability to empathize with Congress' focus upon elections. Obama is a one-on-one talker; he doesn't know how to maintain relations with a roomfull of opposition legislators like LBJ or Bill Clinton, or, hell, even Carter, could. Obama: Worse at legislative relations than Carter. Further, by your logic, Iran is refusing to negotiate. Iran must accept a deal which can pass Congressional muster else risk war with the United States. Iran doesn't want war? Give us a deal which will survive Congress; we all know what terms will survive, its the terms that show a commitment to not acquiring a nuclear weapon in the future. Alas, Obama wishes to sell America such a poo poo deal that his only option is to make Iranian nuclear weapons a partisan issue and rile up 47%.

"The new Republican tax plan is just the Bush tax cuts on steroids" http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/wonkblog/wp/2015/03/12/the-new-republican-tax-plan-is-just-the-bush-tax-cuts-on-steroids/?tid=rssfeed quote:See if this sounds familiar. A Democratic president comes into office offering hope during a downturn. The Republican minority, though, refuses to negotiate with him, and squawks that his policies will only scare the private sector into an even deeper slump. Apparently raising the top marginal tax rate to 39.6 percent is the first step on the road to serfdom. (I'm pretty sure that's in the Communist Manifesto). Now for awhile this looks like a smart political strategy. The still-sluggish economy lets Republicans win back Congress during the midterms, and, from there, they manufacture one crisis after another to try to weaken the president so that he loses reelection. But then things fall apart. The president still wins a second term, in large part, because middle-class voters don't feel like Republicans' super supply-side tax plan would help them. Even worse, the economy starts picking up and markets start taking off, enough that unemployment will be under 5 percent and stocks will be at all-time highs by the time the next election rolls around. So much for socialism killing the recovery. What's to be done? That's the question George W. Bush faced in 2000, and that, well, Jeb Bush (or Scott Walker or Marco Rubio) will also face in 2016. I think that it's an interesting take, and points out the fact that apathy can come from any direction. Just compare the cases of Al Gore and Hillary Clinton. I'm curious as to how many of you agree with their implied thesis that we're stuck in a repeating cycle. Oh, and lollerbladin IRL about the "new tax plan". The Treasury has suspended issuance of State and Local Government Series securities. Beginning on Monday it will declare a "debt issuance suspension period" with respect to investments of the Civil Service Retirement and Disability Fund and also suspend the daily reinvestment of Treasury securities held by the Government Securities Investment Fund of the Federal Employees' Retirement System Thrift Savings Plan.
