Same long-standing ratings history here. It's about 50/50 with me. But they must have some kind of promotional bump where they cram a few in there regardless of past ratings. Case in point, that Ralphie May special they've been pushing hard. Netflix anticipates I'd rate it as 1 out of 5 stars. Yet it's in my "top picks". At the same time other stuff has been fairly accurate and enjoyable.

I thought it was some weird glitch that the loving Ralphie May special was always recommended with the one star rating. I even tried watching it, hated it, rated it one star, and Netflix is still telling me to watch it.

I'm looking for an Irish crime or action film. Dark and violent is preferable. I'm hoping for something in the vein of The Wind That Shakes the Barley or The Departed. American Irish, anything Boston, is acceptable as well.

It's a man's game, but boys will play

It's not a drama, but if you've seen The Boondock Saints or know anything about it, Overnight (it's on YouTube) is a good documentary that gets recommended here every once in a while, about the making of the movie. You get to see a Boston rear end in a top hat making a movie about Irish gangster-busters, so it's tangentially related and it's pretty compelling, if low fidelity. Duffy is sort of a tragic, almost Lowmanesque anti-hero who is still ultimately an rear end in a top hat before all else. I found it really easy to see people I know really well when seeing him talk about how great he is, you might find the same.

I'm not interested in a documentary for tonight, but this sounds good and I will check it out in the future. Thanks.

I should add: if no one can think of a good Irish film, I will also happily watch anything that involves Brits in horrible suffering. Please nothing WW2 related because I don't feel like suffering horribly through Brittany.

Yeah it's funny that they are pretty good at predicting star ratings and don't use it in any useful way. My top picks are pretty much nothing but Family guy related stuff, really bad Spike TV reality shows, bad standup comedians, and Law and order type stuff.

90% of what I watch on Netflix is Drama and Indie Horror. Two genres it has never recommended to me once. It's kind of just a silly thing, but I would honestly love a good top picks section. I can find 5 or 6 things on my own that I wan't to watch every time I'm browsing. It would be kind of nice if Netflix started using the information I've been giving them for probably 9 years to find some of them for me.

If you've got a VPN, Netflix UK has The Wee Man, about a Glasgow crime syndicate. It's not the greatest thing you'll ever see but it fulfills some of your criteria, at least.

God what a good and bleak movie. Robert Mitchum and Peter Boyle at their absolute best. Peter Yates directed this five years after Bullitt and ten years before he directed Krull.

Kimmy Schmidt should get a second and third season with a higher budget. I was really disappointed with the second half of the season and how small the show's world felt, but there were such reality-shakingly funny lines in the first half that I want to see more.

Yeah I thought it was pretty hit or miss. That bit was great though. Some of the stuff about cell phones was pretty good even if it was really safe. Some of his stories were really rambley and lead up to the lamest punchlines though. The poo poo about Ja Rule was pure :wtf:

I actually remember him getting his start on Last Comic Standing so I've hated him for a very long time. :\

Noah is a really cool, atmospheric fantasy film.

I just finished watching From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series and it's far, far better than it has any business being. It's the story from the first Dusk Till Dawn movie exploded into a ten episode series. This should be a loving terrible idea but somehow it's awesome and has Jake Busey so just watch it ok.

Yeah a lot of the stuff that someone here on SA who saw an early cut said was in it was cut, but there is enough bits and pieces of what he said still left in the movie that it's very very clear Aronofsky won.
