Ghost Ship Octavius's debut album is available for purchase from CDBaby! They're a prog-metal project from Matt Wicklund of God Forbid, Van Williams of Nevermore, and some kid named Adōn Fanion who sounds like a young Ripper Owens mixed with... someone. I have no idea where they found him. Here's an early version of Saturn and Skies (album version has slightly better production): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wkonPyn6xNM Recommended for fans of Nevermore and stuff in that vein. If I can give SlipKnot any sort of credit, "Duality" was the first song that got me interested in rock music heavier than The Beatles and 00's Green Day. That's about as much credit as I can give though.

The show in NYC was pretty great, aside from what seemed like volume issues with the levels at a few points during the night. Witch Mountain was alright, the first song was kinda boring, but the others were better. Ecstatic Vision was cool, wish they actually had some stuff up on their Bandcamp aside from that clip. Enslaved was fun, but I think Yob was the highlight for me. I felt kinda wiped out after they left the stage. Marrow was great to see live. Also, at the end of the night, they passed out extras of the show's poster, and I nabbed one. Pretty cool.

What are the best Suffocation albums?
|
# ? Mar 25, 2015 02:39 |
|
Effigy of the Forgotten, Pierced from Within, Souls to Deny, Despise the Sun, Human Waste, and Pinnacle of Bedlam. Breeding the Spawn is also really good but the production is utter poo poo, so that one is a bit of a toss-up.

I think the self titled Suffocation album is good and worthy of mention as well.

Saw Ensiferum last night. They put on a really good show and the mixing was spot on. Fast, tight, energetic. Same can't be said for Insomnium who I wasn't really familiar with in the first place. Pretty boring, couldn't hear poo poo and they take themselves way too seriously.

Here's another song by my band: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NFYbHDH2taA I'm not completely satisfied with it, I think the sound's too harsh when the actual song begins at 0:58. Also. it sounds like I'm singining "I shall return a gay" in the chorus. But I don't know, maybe that's what the song's about. Turning gay in space. Enjoy.
