Still an hour away and my nerves are acting up. This is going to be a painful/edgy day.

Free-to-Air digital in Australia is a joke. The quality was better 12 years ago. Every network just throws as many garbage channels they can into the bandwidth they're allowed to maximise ad revenue. If you want a decent sports broadcast you're looking at $90 a month and even that's not as good as it should be.

My $60/month Foxtel with all the 1080p sport I can consume begs to differ

I don't even use FTA anymore they can go gently caress themselves.

Foxtel starter pack + sports pack is $50 a month. $60 with HD.

That's still about $40/month more than I'd be willing to pay. I'd be happier to pay a subscription for specific tournaments/leagues.

This only works if you follow two or three sports at a time - if you follow a bunch or just four or five in any great detail then sub fees start to add up pretty quickly.

Offer both then, I'd guess the vast majority of people don't actively follow more than 2 or 3 sports a year.

Within Australia alone you have V8 Supercars, the NRL, Super Rugby, the A League and AFL on top cricket. Those aren't minor sports and the overlap between fans is likely to be pretty large.

Then you've got sports with ex-pats competing like Formula One, the international Rugby series and the respective World Cups for Rugby, Football and Cricket again. And that's before you hit American Sport.

This weekend alone is the Cricket World Cup Final, round-robin Super Rugby, A-League, NRL games, Formula One from Malaysia and V8 Supercars in Tazzie. It's really not hard to be all over five or six sports in a weekend, let alone a year.

The answer is, mate, because I want to do you slowly. There has to be a bit of sport in this for all of us. In the psychological battle stakes, we are stripped down and ready to go. I want to see those ashen-faced performances; I want more of them. I want to be encouraged. I want to see you squirm.

Not to mention full coverage of the English Premier League football (we get every game live in HD), plus most of the Champions League games as well and usually 3-4 La Liga matches each week.

Australia batting first, unchanged side from the QF.

This worries me a bit, I feel India are better at chasing a target than setting one.

Good to know, i think it's time to bite the bullet.

From the pitch reports this looks like a road, good toss to win. Still tough setting a total with ODI's the way they are against this Indian team. An arrogant innings or two from the likes of Kholi and they can chase down anything.

Kohli and Dhoni are ridiculously good chasers but Australia can easily bat India out of the game if Warner or Maxwell fire.

Not very popular at all. To the extent that teams are folding at an alarming rate and the league is on the verge of collapse.

I've been thinking about this. I'd probably rather Australia wins, as most of the initial ticket sales would've gone to Indians assuming they were making the final, meaning the crowd support would be more behind them.
I could be mistaken, but it appears from the TV coverage that the Australian public at large don't actually seem to give a gently caress about cricket at the moment. Guess that's gonna happen when the NRL (and to a lesser extent the Super 15) has just started.
The AFL is considerably more popular and has yet to start.

There also seems like a bit of backlash against the way the Australian cricket team plays and behaves at the moment. I've read multiple Australians saying they'd prefer us to win the World Cup...which is hosed up if you ask me.
