Ravenloft inspired campaign setting for 5e.

On one hand I like Ravenloft and $20 for a PDF is okay, on the other I'm still on the fence regarding 5e and the risk of: " In Trentsmund, steam power has irrevocably changed the kingdom’s infrastructure." meaning steampunk is strong. I'll have to wait to see read some solid samples but for now I'll be keeping an eye out.

I've been looking at this for a bit. It was a bit disappointing when I looked for more information about the setting on the website and it was the same information repeated again with no depth. I'm also not sure how the setting is "low-magic" if the world thinks magic is the stuff of stories except if it's anyone the party interacts with. So, I like what the theme seems to be going for, but I'd like to see a couple example pages. The steampunk line really put me off as well though; I just can't dig it. We'll see.

I like how there are only 50 limited pledges for 100 each. Which is, you know, not even enough to fund the thing.

On other news, Raging Heroes just unleashed its new kickstarter and it funded in seconds.

And no worries guys, all the $970 early bird slots are taken, but there's still a few $975 ones (that's a $1643 retail value!). Now maybe you're thinking "Hey, there's lots of places I can spend a thousand dollars on cheesecake miniatures", but how many places can you find a Lust Elf Centaur where each leg is a guy upside down standing on his hands? Not too many, I don't think.

The game itself looks really strong (or I imagine it will be, as they ran out of time to be able to show it now). I can see it prompting some fun role playing moments like: "Hey Janis, is your tortured skull codpiece thing, like, a sentient attached being - or just a dead trophy of a guy you murdered with lust and/or your 4 bladed trident?". "I don't know Beth, maybe it does the same thing as the two giant tubes going into your vagina, as we're otherwise pretty much identical". "OMG JANIS THAT'S NOT WHERE MY VAGINA IS, I'M A CENTAUR".

TG Kickstarter Thread II: Featuring Naked Lust Elves

I looked at the TGG2 kickstarter and I don't even understand how it's supposed to work. Are you supposed to pledge and hope the models you really want are unlocked by the end of the short campaign? Because that's v dumb. I really like the Altarii and the little demons but I don't think there's enough non-cheesecake here to even split the freebie pledge with someone. Like why the hell is the nun standard bearer throwing out her back like that?

TGG always has the most bizarre ratio of 'yeah, that's kinda cool' and '... whhhhhhhhhy?'

Some of those not-Sisters are actually cool, dynamic poses, if maybe a tiny bit over-designed in detail. Then you have random power-armored stripper poses and just anything involving the literal lust elves.

I just think it's not too much to ask if your giant-breasted stripper minis would have the option for a reasonable look and lol boob plate attachments if that's what you wanted. Like, it's obvious they can model that in and I shouldn't have to buy some otherwise-decent minis with boob plate on them and have to file the boob plates down.

Confession: i did split into the original TGG because there were enough rambo girls who looked decent. Especially that power loader one. :allears:

It'll be interesting to see how Raging Heroes use the vehicles / monstrous creatures listed right at the bottom of the TGG2 kickstarter in their tabletop game (spoiler: they will never release a tabletop game). There's a Dark Elf tree/tank hybrid thing that costs $180 while no other faction seems to have a similarly sized vehicle / creature? And for that money you could buy 10 heroines or 4-5 squads of jetbike / flying troops so I can't imagine how they would balance that out points-wise in an actual game.

But you can read about the game on their story page! It will be cinematic, like playing your favorite movie. And all the models will be balanced against each other... no more picking bad models! It will be a game where you get to spend 180 bucks on 10 models!

They don't seem to offer any bundles, either. There's no way to click a thing and get a bargain deal of a faction without picking every single choice a la carte from the pledge manager later.

And I'm pretty sure the freebies are going to be split across six factions, which means at most a person will want 1/3 of them?

It is dumb, but they're selling topless daemonetts so they can afford to be suboptimal. poo poo's going to make them a million dollars.

Yeah, I think the kickstarter is "supposed" to be the bundle deal that's somehow better cuz you're getting free stuff and you can choose what's in the bundle. However, the formatting is awful and they've listed some sections twice. :wtc:

Between the Altarii, demon buddies, arch-pope, seraphim, angels (maybe??) and mounted knights I can possibly see enough cool models that have (comparatively) little cheesecake to them that I wouldn't mind displaying. Santa Dolores looks really cool too. So I might try to split an order with a friend and take the relevant freebies. The only problem with these is that they're sketches and what looks like decent models may turn into porn starlets in the actual model. :ohdear:

Well, based on the first TGG, I'd say that you have a better chance of the models being less porn-y than the sketches. That being said, the Lust Elves are supposed to be porn-y, so I think that will be a case of WYSIWYG. Worst case scenario, you could sell off the ones you don't like and at least make the retail cost off of them, since sexxxy female minis always sell.

Personally, I'm torn on this one - I backed the first TGG (though I still haven't received my stuff) and I wanted the not-Sisters of Sigmar, but I don't like the way they've formatted this KS. At first glance, it seems to be unnecessarily confusing.

Shadow of the Demon Lord

Shadow of the Demon Lord is a roleplaying game of dark fantasy—a genre that weaves elements of horror into a fantasy world. In the game, you create and play characters struggling to survive in a land sliding toward oblivion, a place infested by demons, roaming mobs of undead, strange magic, unhinged cultists, and all in the ruins of the last great empire of mankind. If you love Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay, the Ravenloft and Midnight settings, Joe Abercrombie’s The First Law series, Glen Cook’s Black Company books, or heavy metal music, then this is the game is for you.

The game takes place in a world standing on the brink of the apocalypse. What is the cause? Who is responsible? The Demon Lord, of course! This being of staggering power and boundless evil authors the catastrophes blighting the landscape. Each new horror released reflects the Demon Lord's approach, the touch of its shadow, and its growing hunger for not only the planet but the entirety of all things. Although near, the Demon Lord remains outside the cosmos, rattling the cage of its prison as it strains to escape the Void to visit catastrophic destruction to your world.

Same. I'm trying to figure out the easiest way to get a non-Sisters army out of this. Do they end up selling the models after their kickstarters for around the same price?

It's mind boggling that this is not even the first game that is a) "Dark Fantasy" B) Near-apocalypse C) game that references WFRP, Black Company and heavy metal D) With a spell that makes you poo poo yourself to death and E) is preoccupied with orc erections. They don't offer bundle or faction deals because there's no game attached to the models so they don't have any framework for creating bundles.

If you want to get one of each model / unit for one army it'll cost about $400 in kickstarter prices so you need to go for the Captain pledge level which gives you $395 of store credit.

e - In the first kickstarter they ran, the original pledge levels were set up as bundles where for $amount you could pick X number of Heroines, Y number of troops and Z number of support units but lo, the neckbeards did complain mightily that structured pledges like that were unfair to people who wanted to choose things outside of that scope so they changed the pledges to just be $amount of store credit and everyone seemed happy with it so they've done the same thing with this project.
