If you play on a map with only a single spawn door you deserve to be camped. My favorite is when people whine about spawn camping on maps with a ton of exits, like doomsday. If you're only going to only use 1 out of 4 exits I'm going to just shoot rockets into it all day.

"Spawn camping" on Nucleus is a silly concept. (1) The main spawn door is like two steps from a position where you can shoot at the point. It's impossible to play the map well without shooting people next to that door. The map is so small and compact that it's part of defending the point. (2) The other exits are really well spread out. If someone's shooting the main spawn door, use a different door. They can't prevent you from leaving spawn. It's both nearly impossible to not spawn camp on Nucleus (if you define spawn camping as "shooting at people near their spawn") and nearly impossible to actually spawn camp on Nucleus (if you define spawn camping as "defending the spawn exit so that nobody can leave spawn without dying"). Nucleus is an arena map that shouldn't be played seriously on KOTH because it's a pin-sized control point over a deathpit accessible only by narrow walkways and exposed to snipers from every direction. That's fine and all for an arena CP, not so much for KOTH.

Otherwise I like it a lot

If the spawn rooms were pushed back a bit it wouldn't be that big of a deal.

Spawn camping happens on Harvest and Nucleus every game without fail because it's so easy to get to the enemy spawn. Harvest especially, Demomen can get there from their spawn in one second.

I'm using Chris' configs so take this with the necessary amount of salt but I've been doing great once I get past the initial ten minutes of stuttering. I can go to Advanced options without the game hanging and repeating the last played sound all the while.

Imagine if you put drywall all over a heavily modified wooden platform and then left in in the rain for 11 years and then kept putting hats on top of the rickety soggy platform all the while. That's why TF2 is crashing

I've mentioned before that I tend to frequent an Australian server despite being all the way in the UK, and this is pretty much why. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cqRRZAsMvC4 Also, the Spy stepping out of that crate with an unusual on his head was my favourite part of that SFM. I don't know why it cracked me up as much as it did.

This is getting a lot of love, but it isn't getting enough love, because it deserves all the love. Much better than EotL. The characters were better realized. The action was easier to follow and just plain better. Ignoring that all the lines are canned is easier than ignoring that the characters never even grunt or laugh. This is the first video I've seen that realizes the potential that the comics are realizing since the original TF2 "Meet the" videos. Thanks for posting.

I just ran into one of the most pathetic TF2 players I have ever seen. He was an aimbotting heavy with the brass beast in Ghost Town. Yeah that's right, an aimbotter in MvM. During the big spy wave he was getting pushed along by the tank and shooting it, while also shooting straight backward at any spies that came into his line of sight. Surprisingly (or not) his damage was really bad throughout the wave and the other heavy outscored him. Maybe that one had a better hack or something.

The Kins posted:So, um, the SFM folk are at it again. 21 minutes of high quality dead game fights in 60fps. This owns, seconding the "much better than EoTL" sentiment. I also like how they went with the "a little slow and unsubtle, but incredibly brutal" personality for the Soldier instead of the 'literally retarded' Flanderized version we've gotten lately in the comics.

That 20+ minute long SFM is entertaining pretty much the whole way through and has some good characterization using limited voice lines. Well animated too. Bring on the TF2 feature length movie.

Nucleus is garbage because it violates a principle you can observe in most good TF2 maps which is that somebody should be able to slam W with minimal adjustment and make it to the point. Instead, you step out of spawn and there's a wall directly in front of you. Now you turn and hold W and you run in a circle for 20 minutes while nobody touches the point. The one person who figures out they can actually move toward the point gets punished because it's the loving point on Nucleus. Good TF2 maps lead to teamwork at or near the objectives almost entirely by accident. Nucleus does everything in its power to persuade you to do something else.

Incidently, this makes Nucleus one of the best arena maps.

That and it's also Flank and Get Flanked: The Map. Honestly, in my opinion, the only redeeming factor of Nucleus is that if you look at the point head-on from on top of that little window overhang with the medkit inside, it looks like a big one-eyed robot.
