The idea was to make a track that sounded like a live recording of bar room jazz from the 50s, pressed to a terrible quality 7". The organ is sampled but the rest is all simulacra from multisamples (+live guitar and vox)
Working title was : Free Jazz? No! (Money Down)

Hey, i'm using soundcloud as a means to document unorganized ideas for songs in their roughest form. I'm new to Ableton/MIDI software and have a very rough understanding of music theory, but I'm trying to learn a whole bunch every day. The goal for this little soundcloud project is to hopefully compose a decently-sized record on my own.

Just wrapped writing and production on a new project with an old friend. This will be getting a pass with live instruments and vocals, but I'm quite proud of the project instrumentals as is. This is all done in Reason with a few midi controllers and occasionally the guitar.

Take a minute and thumb through some of these, won't you? :)

Nice stuff! I'm not a fan of the other genres on there but I enjoyed "Space Coast" and "P Dark Music" for the interesting samples/ideas and at least on crappy work speakers they came across just fine.

I'm a sucker for cheesy 80s synths so this is right up my alley. Really cool, this would fit well in a Hotline Miami or Drive OST, downloaded!

Released a new EP aswell, around a week ago . It's a blend of gloomy shoegaze, post-punk and drone with some chip and sine synths. A friend of mine thought it was basically 'Have A Nice Life meets LCD Soundsystem' and that's a pretty fair description.

Give it a listen/download here: https://debutantemusic.bandcamp.com/

I also have a Soundcloud, but that's mainly where I post covers/remixes/stuff that doesn't make the EPs.

Thanks, man. It was all done in Reason with a few samples here and there (only for a few things like the static sound, the rain, the laughter in track 4, etc.) I love Reason but I want to expand my sound a little by trying other programs out.

Haven't put up any original stuff in a while, mostly mixes, and I've massively improved my mixing skill since that time (Completed a Certificate in Sound Production last year and this year have moved on to an Advanced Diploma in it), so I'm going back to all my original works/'Works in Progress' currently and cleaning them up, improving levels, stereo image, frequency distributions etc, if not already in addition to completing uncompleted tracks.

However, the last 2 recent tracks I had uploaded (Magnitude and Insom) which I uploaded about 6 or 7 months ago now, got discovered by a label head here where I live and is signing me onto release a techno EP in the next few coming months, so it's all pretty exciting! I've mostly produced either ambient electronica in the past and dabbled in techno, but for the last year or so I've primarily solely been producing dark and minimal techno (however I'm very keen to get back into the ambient game again once I get myself a Zoom H4n).

SDX

SDX is my videogame inspired IDM project. Think Squarepusher on a Commodore 64.

At the start of the year I promised myself I'd do one track a month for the whole year. The previous year I realised how unproductive I was and how much perspective you lose on your own music if you spend six months on a track.

So these are all pretty immediate, pretty rough, and sometimes short, but a hell of a lot more fun than what I was doing last year.

Might as well toss my hat in the ring. Decided to make a SoundCloud the other day and upload some of the music I've made over the years. Some original songs, some covers (video game stuff). Mostly guitar driven, instrumental type music. Just me in my bedroom, on my computer. I've been trying to get back into making music lately, since it's a fun little hobby, but I've been pretty unproductive with it the past couple years.

In the mean time, I thought I'd share some of my older stuff with others, since it's just sitting there on my hard drive. My friends/family don't care much for the stuff I make, so I figured I'd try a different crowd, heh. :unsmith:
