Ok, I'll just assume that Koopa Troopa is the closest to Dry Bones. Did they at least bring Dry Bones back for 8? I don't have a Wii U.

Has anyone dabbled in New 3DS Cover Plates enough to notice a difference in materials between the various plates? I used the black plates that come with the console up until the Xenoblade plates came out, and while they look awesome, they seem a lot smoother, and seem to flex inwards if I hold the console too tightly. Are all the 'printed image' back plates made of the same material as the Xenoblade plates, or are the plain ones similar to the ones that shop with the console?

I only have experience of the Majora's Mask plates, but at least they are matte just like the plain original ones. I haven't noticed any flexing at all, and they feel and look really nice.

I decided I'm not going to wait until May to play JP Xenoblade (having it sent together with WU Xenoblade Cross), and bought it at the JP E-shop. It's gorgeous. It's as if I'm playing the Wii version using the N3DSLL as the control pad and monitor. I imagine there has to be a graphic downgrade from Wii's 480P (it is, right? techheads please correct me if I'm wrong) to 3DS's 240P display, but being on that tiny screen the backgrounds and such are fantastically intricate and beautiful. (Character models still look rear end, though. On the flipside, equipment changes are represented on the models, so it's a lot more satisfying than the likes of non-MMO Final Fantasies and Dragon Quests where character models remain unchanged even if you get ultra-rare/expensive/controversial gear you want to show off.) The C-nub works perfectly smoothly for shifting camera views. However, because the camera tends to be somewhat distant from the player character, the 3D effect isn't all that noticeable. The text is tiny but perfectly legible without reading glasses for me. There's a new mode in which you can spend tokens (obtained by street passes, interfacing Shulk amiibo, etc.) to obtain 3D character models and soundtrack tunes. It seems identical to the Wii version so far, except that it's stinking fast to save and load, relative to the original. (There is still some blackscreening.) It swipes all the great ideas from Final Fantasies and other brand-name JRPGs and melds them into one great whole wide world. It's the greatest Final Fantasy that Square has never delivered after the SFC years. Buy.

It's Xenoblade Wii on a 3DS, if you're burned out from the Wii version, you're not missing anything. C-stick is fine for the camera after switching it to fastest, but the new z buttons that control party behaviour and camera are a pain in the arse to use.

Now, we get Xenoblade on a handheld in 3D with no noticeable downgrade in quality from Wii. (I didn't dig very deep, but was the original Wii version 4.8GB in international format? The JP N3DS version is 3.6GB, so there had to be data savings to be had, even allowing for the multiple languages.) I guess I'm just old--I find the pace of technological progress nothing short of magical. Good times!

Doug Dinsdale posted:Well, yeah. And that's why I find it utterly astonishing. The Wii was only a half step up from the Gamecube compared to the other 7th gen systems, and when the 3DS was already getting Wii/PS2 ports, Xenoblade being possible on the n3DS isn't really a surprise from a technical standpoint when you think about it. Though I also find it pretty astounding, mostly because Xenoblade still feels like a "recent" game to me. e: Makes you think what would've been possible with the Vita's specs in a world where people cared about it.

Yeah, those controls are the same as they were on the Wii classic controller, but I don't remember them being this awkward to reach. I guess because the classic controller didn't have square corners. I have small hands though, so it might not be a problem for everyone.

Been lurking on the the thread and had a couple things: 1. If transferring 3ds to new 3ds scares you, you can actually format a card larger than 32 gigs to use on a regular 3ds. Here's a link to show you how. It makes transferring to a new 3ds painless. I use a 64 gig and it's awesome. 2. I think the Club Nintendo site is finally at a relatively stable point where you can claim your gold/platinum reward. I got Mario Kart last night. 3. Let's play some games, add me. My friend code's 5472-9289-3840 User name Blanco. Anyone play Aeternoblade? Looks interesting, I'm a sucker for time mechanics.

I read the colour options for the New 3DS XL differ between US and EU. Is there any way to know when other colors will be available if at all? I would rather not have to ship from overseas.

I think it's not so much that they're a little awkward to reach as it is that it's awkward to reach in the way you have to whilst also pressing one of the face buttons to just centre the camera which is one of the most commonly used actions in any 3rd person game. They could have remapped that to pressing L+R simultaneously or something. Or one of the other buttons that don't do anything outside of menus. Like Y, by itself.

Story of Seasons is the latest Harvest Moon game, the name is owned by Natsume who isn't doing the localization any more. They also released their own Minecraft/Harvest Moon game under the name Harvest Moon: Lost Valley which is kinda mediocre. Story of Seasons is just the Japanese name the series is going to be localized under from now on.
