It'll take a long time to run entirely out of fossil fuels but I think the more pressing concern is that we colonize space before we run out of energy to escape the gravitational well. How long before we run out of the energy to pull that off?

Or we can just sit here and wallow in hand-wringing while our education system is dismantled around us and the country grows ever-fatter and increasingly impotent.
