I think you can also buy Treek with credits and then get the account unlock for 700 coins. I think the contract is only 1,000,000.

Yeah well I only had like 30k on my guy after quitting in the second month of the game but I had like 4000 bioware bux for some reason. I have no idea how to make spacebux in this game since I guess they killed slicing years ago

Everything's viable. Pick powertech if you enjoy melee, flamethrowers, and think you ever might want to tank. Pick Merc if you enjoy ranged, missiles, and think you might ever want to heal.

Arsenal merc is probably one of the most braindead easy DPS classes in the game to play, if you're into being useful without putting in a lot of work.

So the goon presence is only Imp side on Jedi Covenant, right? I'm loving around with this a little bit for the first time in years in free mode while I wait for stuff to come in on my next project (my god but I don't remember the run animations looking so goofy) and it'd be nice to have a few dorks to talk to, at least. But if goons are lacking Rep-side that bums me out, since Smuggler is my favorite character concept in Star Wars. :smith:

Also some of the free mode locks are utterly asinine and kept me away previously (locking the ability to hide hats, really?) but having a security key from way back gave me a horjillion coins so whatevs

Buy adaptive gear (there's plenty that sells for nothing on the market) and then buy mods for it every few levels. Ideally have an alt craft it for you because if it's anything like last 12x the market is going to price levelling mods through the roof for this exact reason; worst case scenario you can always buy crappy ones from NPCs.

They're also supposedly increasing the comms you get for class quest and reducing the price of planetary rewards, so you should be able to gear up easier

For Arsenal Merc, I'm still trying to figure out my rotation. The Dufly guide mostly just confused me because it's set for end-game poo poo and all. I'm level 40. Any tips on a leveling/PVE build instead of a "HOLY poo poo HIT THIS BUTTON AT THIS SECOND" rotation?

John Dyne
Jul 3, 2005

Well, fuck. Really?
If arsenal is the one I think it is, I usually have this rotation at ~46:

Unload
Tracer Missile x3
Unload
Rail Shot (I think this is the name, it's the blue laser looking button that only works with a debuff, it'll be lit up because of Tracer)
Heat Seeking Missiles
Priming Shot
Tracer Missile
Unload

That takes out most silvers before the priming shot, and on golds I usually rain more tracers while waiting on cool downs, or stun to save my companion from dying. I launch a fusion missile and then death from above on groups of norms, or sweeping blasters if I'm feeling saucy.

As for builds, well, you can pretty well tell which utilities are for levelling and which are for PvP. I have to check what I have, but they tend to be pretty straight forward.

e: I took Power Barrier, Boresights, and Custom Enviro Suit in the first tier, and then Power Barrier and Heat Dampening in the second.

When I leveled through 12x, I just bought the green mods/armorings/barrels from the mod vendors on each planet. It's not GREAT gear but it's good enough, and you make enough money through casual gathering/selling of underworld metals to fund it.

Think of it less as a list of buttons to press in a certain order, and more of a priority system; even at level 60, it's less about following a rotation and more about using your most powerful abilities when you can. It's been a few months since I've played but iirc the basic gist is:

Use unload as often as you can, immediately
Use priming shot when you can, because it buffs tracer missile
Use heat seeker missile when it procs
Use rail shot when it procs
When you have nothing else to use, spam tracer missile because it procs your more powerful abilities. Use them when they proc

That's the core of arsenal mercing, get it down and you'll be nice and competent. I forget how much of that you'll be missing at level 40, but at a minimum, your "rotation" is "unload when you can, tracer missile when you can't"

Do you think that BW regrets offing Malgus? He's a central figure in all the CG cinematics, you get a statue of him in the CE, he's constantly throwing missions your way for group content 10-50, he's on the box art, and there was even a life-sized statue of him you could win at launch. All the other characters that got this much attention are still kicking. Marr's cool and all but it feels like the current content where Rep and Imps are side by side would be more interesting with Satele and Malgus in the same room.

Also, do you ever get to meet the smuggler form the cinematics in any stories? I can't remember.

Yeah, Star Wars isn't a franchise where dead characters stay gone forever. Hell, even in A New Hope that's been the case, he could always come back as a force ghost.

Knocking him into the core of the Death Star Emperor's Fortress was a cute idea, but they should have done it in a cutscene instead.

Stupid things you've seen in pubbie groups, go:

  • Healer: "AFK a sec", DPS: *force leap to boss fight*
  • Sniper in all Aim gear. "I need Aim to shoot things good!". Couldn't really fault him on that.
  • Tanks in DPS stance, Healers in DPS stance, no stance, "what's a stance?"
  • DPS queueing as healers "because it's faster lol"
  • At KDY ship asssembly puzzle: Player 1 "I know the puzzle, gimme a sec", Player 2: *pushes every button at random and activates assembly*
  • 3 Sorc and a Jugg, purple Will drop. Jugg needs on it.
  • Sniper constantly cover-rolling into 2nd group and aggroing it. Blaming tank for poor job.
  • Tank: "Everyone knows this boss fight?", rest of group: "Nope". *Tank starts fight anyway*
