Trust me, it sounds a lot more interesting than it actually is. While you do have a good fight here and there in the current arc -- looking at the luchador with the audience familiar that heals as long as his auidence can cheer for him --, most of the story is just people standing around and talking about doing stuff. It's sooo horribly paced. Bleach's manga needs a Bleach Kai.

I'd say one of the worst things about Ichigo is that he has one of, if not the single most boring fighting style of anyone in the show, and indeed is one of the most boring Shonen protagonists I can think of in regards to fighting style(pre Shippuden Naruto and indeed the rest of Team 7 for that matter are also really boring Shonen protagonists when it comes to fighting styles)

Yeah he literally is the most generic fighter. Sword pressing and generic energy blast that doesn't do poo poo until the plot says so.

Bleach, Naruto, and One Piece are the students of Dragon Ball, and Bleach is the failure that is never going to graduate and is one day going to get expelled.

I'm not good with analogies.

Naruto already failed to graduate and we're just watching him dance like a monkey in the sequel.

Don't get it twisted who your enemies are.
Bleach starts alright. It gets cool and interesting during Soul Society if you like shonen fightmans and big clusterfucks of characters running around a city causing trouble. Hueco Mundo and the Arrancar stuff starts to get a little boring and tedious but there's still some good fights. Once all the characters start standing in the air above a fake Karakura town for 200 chapters is when it just drops like a rock for me. Aizen is terrible. The Fullbringer arc I felt was really interesting for most of it until the big dumb twist that they were all evil the whole time. The Quincy stuff has been up and down for me. Mostly down since the invasion thing started.

Naruto and Bleach are both slogs that nobody should read at this point.

I actually thought Bleach was good back when it was just high school Japanese neighborhood ghostbusters.

Grand Fisher was a more interesting and intimidating villain than Aizen ever was. I got super mad when he showed up after the SS arc just to get chumped.

I would recommend Atomic Robo: Two Fisted Tales as a really good use of the digital comic medium. It's a comic that is specifically written for digital only. It's also a one-shot so you don't miss out on just grabbing that one.

Granted I really enjoy Atomic Robo, but just for the way it is implemented, I like it as a experience on my iPad as well. If there are other recommendations for comics like that I'd be down for that too! (I don't count the ones like Batman '66 that have print versions and don't really take advantage of the digital medium :( )

Sounds like somebody wants SOMEBODY to tell them about Homestuck.

Okay, all joking aside, it's a very, very long mixed-media webstory with an absurdly over-complicated plot that spawned a huge number of memes and a rabid fanbase during its height. The creator itself mostly keeps his distance from the community and is such a weirdo that drama doesn't really stick to him, but the mania surrounding the thing made everyone who wasn't already into the craze completely sick of it.

Lately the furor's died down, due to a number of lengthy hiatuses and a general decline in quality, but it's still chugging along to this day.

I prefer Bleach to One Piece at this point. They're both kind of meh at this point, but Bleach at least has some great batshit moments (such as ghost-nazi superman wrestler) and the return of Aizen has been fantastic now that he's not the villain. It's a really good webcomic about kids who play a game which spirals farther and farther out of control until there are about a million important characters, all of whom have their own internet fanbase. Eventually the author invents three new kinds of romance to quadruple the number of ways his characters can be shipped. Time travel is involved, and puppets, and sick beats. Also there is a juggalo.

Honestly One Piece has had a lot of problems for a while. It's at least been more fun to read the last handful of chapters, but yeah I'm overall enjoying Bleach more right now. It's just so damned goofy and throwing things out and moving on as fast as possible, and it's just great.

What? Bleach has been mindnumbingly slow for the last year or so, not that Dressrosa has been well paced but my God, I would kill for Bleach to move a little faster. It's just been painful how poor the pacing has been.

Alright, we've gathered the dragon balls, made our wish, and managed to thwart evil. Good going everybody.

So what's the rest of the show about?

More seriously, that was a pretty charming and surprisingly humble beginning to things. I remember reading somewhere that a lot of the initial arcs in Shounen Jump titles tend to be brief in case the series gets canned so I'd imagine the next couple arcs will be similarly fast-paced until we hit the part where Dragon Ball demonstrated it could reliably earn its keep. Funny how little time it wastes early on given its eventual reputation. Also kinda funny seeing Emperor Pilaf and his comically ineffectual goons knowing that in a couple hundred episodes we're gonna be staring down the barrel of the most dangerous alien in the known universe, the somewhat less humorous Lord Freiza.

Speaking of which, kinda throws a wrench in a lot of the series' power level discussion when there's a dude who can literally just turn anyone who touches him into a carrot. Imagine how useful that guy would've been if Goku had remembered he left him on the moon and brought him back to Earth to take on pretty much any threat.
