It is nice to support one of the few Democrats in Washington who is actually left leaning. Sadly, I don't think he'll ever win the presidency, but hey, gotta try.

I am going to vote for Sanders with a fervor that I haven't had for a candidate before but is there any way in hell he is getting past the primaries? I feel like Hillary might be somewhat damaged because of the emails and the donations issues and I wonder if there is more scandal to come wouldn't republicans want to expose it during the primaries as Sanders seems like a softer candidate in the general? I noticed something the other day about Hillary and that is that a looooot of people I know will never vote for her. They are almost all to the left. She seems pretty polarizing even within her own party but I haven't looked at polls and actual data so I really have no idea.

Whether Bernie has any chance at all to get past the primaries depends very, very heavily on him getting people who don't normally care about politics to pay attention. His entry into the race has created a bigger buzz than I was anticipating, which is a decent start, but more people have to pay attention and, more importantly, vote in the primaries (I know nobody IRL who has ever done this one single time). It will also depend on if he gets air time in debates. There is zero doubt in my mine that he can roundly school Hillary in a debate, and she showed back in '08 that she cannot handle someone out-debating her at all. I've never in my life seen a candidate implode to the degree Hillary did, which itself is another point against her. Realistically, however, I doubt he will. He needs everything to align perfectly to win the primary, and the odds are stacked against him. And I have my doubts that the Democrats are going to really put any sort of weight behind him whatsoever. And even in the miraculous chance that he does win the primaries, he'd probably have an even harder time in the presidential election. All of that being said, I am voting for him in the primary election and hold a faint glimmer of hope that maybe he actually somehow does it.

Democrats will turn out and hold their nose and vote Hillary just like republicans will do the same for Jeb. Republicans will lose because they will do terrible than normal among women voters, and that'll be the difference. Bernie doesn't have a shot in hell of getting the nomination, but moving Hillary to the left and having her adopt some populist positions is all he's really looking for.
