As to his actual legislation, you might give govtrack a look. That's kind of my point though. Id have to really dig. He's not known for anything other than being sane and making generally cogent and progressive speeches. He strikes me as someone to shift the tone of conversation rathe. than establish it himself. Ineffectual in an executive position

Well being an iconoclastic leftist voice in Congress has been sorta his thing for a couple decades now, so that he doesn't have any huge (passed) bills to his name, and those he does sponsor tend to get killed in committee by the right. He does have some executive experience, albeit not in nearly as large a role as the presidency, as he was the mayor of Burlington for four terms back in the 80s. EDIT: Also, a clear sign that Bernie has undisclosed connections to big business!

What exactly was Bernie supposed to do as a left-wing independent in congress? Of course he hasn't passed UHC or some big progressive legislation, there are still hundreds of other congresspeople who are awful, corrupt, and far to his right.

Quote of the day, “And we don’t have a clue, have they done any investigation to determine whether foreign agents of terrorism have used the tunnel to get into the United States. We know there are ISIS camps… within 8 miles. Do we know that any of them didn’t come across? Now, the president grandstands, he did during the discussion about Homeland Security when we were trying to defund his illegal amnesty plan. He grandstanded about how we were jeopardizing national security, and is this the way they conduct national security?” ~ Rep. Matt Salmon (R-AZ).

The Larch posted:Why are they worried? Isn't this exactly what the Second Amendment is for? Well the Second Amendment was intended for citizen's militias organized by state or local governments, but most gun enthusiasts are manchildren who collect deadly weapons like they were action figures and use them as toys, so they're not really much of a fighting force

RaspberryCommie posted:Shows what I know. For some reason I thought that election was before winning the majority of electors won you the state. "Winner takes all" has been the most common method for those states that chose to hold Presidential elections (rather than legislature appointments of electors) since the country started. Only Michigan, Maine and Nebraska have done a non-winner-takes-all system since the Civil War (SC kept doing legislature choosing up to the Civil War and was forced to change on readmittance). All three did it in the Congressional districts + overall winner gets 2 votes representing the senate method. Michigan only did it in 1892, Maine and Nebraska have only done it since two different times after the Korean War.
