hillary does not need sanders to win the presidential election. if she ran unopposed for the democratic primary she would still beat the republicans because they have zero electable candidates and this is not going to change. you're off your rocker if you buy what you are trying to sell here.

the democratic primary might as well be the presidential election for 2016.

Hillary going basically unopposed by the left and cruising into a coronation would cause some problems, a lot of people would split off and go third party or not vote at all. It would be similar to 2000. Especially if the Republicans pick someone that isn't immediately identifiable as a crazy person, like Jeb for example.

Hillary's not going to let us voters gently caress this up for her. If the left needs a nod before they get scorned and ignored for 8 years, Hillary is willing to let that nod be the symbolic and non-threatening candidacy of Bernie Sanders.

Bernie's candidacy will lend enough false legitimacy to this MTV reality show that many self-described liberals will "reluctantly" end up voting for Hillary in the election.

Wait until the media spends a few months spinning him as a moderate conservative with a record of cooperation and fiscal responsibility, he's the smart Bush after all. And he probably won't say anything too ridiculous during the campaign. You won't get a 47% video out of Jeb.

We live in an insane country.

it does not matter how the media tries to spin him, the republicans do not have a strong enough voter base to win a presidential election no matter the candidate.

I mean that is basically what will happen, but I think it's safe to say Bernie is making a good faith effort to pull the dialogue to the left, and he knows that the best way for him to do so is pose as credible a threat in the primary as possible, so he'll be doing his best to win. We just all know that it won't happen barring an act of god or similar.

Also, c'mon, Wall Street will do just fine regardless of who is elected, unless its someone so crazy that they cause a nuclear armageddon.

How crazy would nuclear armageddon be though, really? Most of the problems in the world today are due to overpopulation; if we suddenly had a thousandth of the population most of those problems would disappear. Admittedly the near-term poisoning of the atmosphere and loss of biodiversity would present significant challenges, but the best road forward for humanity and the health of the planet may be a nuclear holocaust or other mass extinction event. All I'm saying is maybe it'd be like burning a forest every once in a while so it can start anew, maybe it'd work out okay.

The only part of Hillary that's going to be pulled to the left is her rhetoric, temporarily. The left doesn't have the kind of money needed to make Hillary change any of her views or plans. Good faith or not, the only role that Bernie's candidacy has in this election is lending legitimacy to Hillary's coronation and bringing stray liberals back to the party for the general election.

The odd part about all of the disagreement with me is that nobody really even questions the fact that Hillary is destined to win and that Bernie will endorse her. If it's fixed then why the gently caress are you helping to make it look like it's not?

it doesn't matter what bernie is coaxed into doing if he drops out of the running, i will not vote for hillary. as long as everyone else here resolves to do the same republican victory be damned it will not matter how much fuckery is being done because the message that we cannot be easily bought will still reign

A strong showing by Bernie would (could) do a lot of good in building support and probably campaign infrastructure for more left candidates at the state and local level--which is one of the most important things that can be done at the moment, because, as you well know, national politics aren't going to break the Wall Street stranglehold anytime soon.

Everyone questions this though? No one who is coming in specifically to vote for Bernie has any interest in suddenly switching and voting for Hillary. Are you Karl Rove or something that you need to rely on false assertions to this level?
