If this were an attempt at shock humour or satire then its years two late. There were dozens of crude flash games just like this floating around in the early teens. And if this is straight (heh) faced then its still been beaten to the punch, and its rather tame compared to some homopobic stuff already shoved onto the web.

You know I'm not even offended by the game. I mean it's terrible in every way but it's sort of like Hatred where it's so crass and moronic I can't feel anything. What does offend me though is how the loving gently caress this ended up on Steam in the first place.

Yeah, uh.... :|

I'm not really sure what to say about it. It's just incredibly moronic (and shouldn't be on Steam.) It comes across as, say, a 13 year old boy in the early 2000s who hasn't actually ever met an LGBT person, and just thinks the whole concept of them existing is gross, and therefore funny. Which..come on, people. What a waste of pixels. I mean if this thing had any chance of mainstream success I might be worried for knock-on effects on actual LGBT people, but it's such a lame game and so out of its time that it's just going to fall into obscurity immediately.

...The reason behind this particular game is because of how tired I am of people being overly sensitive and how easily offended people are by every little thing, especially with LGBT issues. I have worked in the game industry since 2007, so I know that's how the game industry pretty much is. I didn't make this game to attack LGBT people personally, but I made this game just to piss off those people that are way too sensitive, which includes straight people. These people that think if you are even remotely homophobic, you are "hateful" and a "bigot", and do everything they can to destroy you in every vicious way possible.. So I decided to go down a path that most developers are afraid to go down: to piss these people off by making the most overly offensive game possible to these idiots to prove a point.

It hits the point where it's so offensive that I can't even find anything wrong with it aside from general eyeroll worthiness. It's like Postal, or, as mentioned, Hatred. When something is that actively awful, it kind of goes past "offensive" into "okay, whatever, guy" territory. It feels like comparing a real suicide threat with a toddler who says they're SO TOTALLY GOING TO HOLD THEIR BREATH UNTIL THEY DIE IF YOU DON'T GIVE THEM CANDY.

Did a video on a 2009 indie fantasy film called Ink. More a string of thoughts than a typical review, the film falls on that line of "much, much better than most films of its budget, but still kind of crap."

Yeah, that's what I took from it. Also, as I said, this guy doesn't really have the power or influence to have much of an impact on real life. I love his "explanation" though, because it's exactly the wrong way to respond to accusations that you have caused offence. And yes, I do know that people can be too overly sensitive, but considering how it really wasn't that long ago that open and obnoxious bigotry against LGBT people was condoned, encouraged or thought to be funny by almost everyone...eh, why am I bothering to give this more thought than the game developer did.

It's less about the game and more about the piss poor content management Steam Greenlight has. He also doesn't have much to say on that, either, because... seriously look at the poo poo they're letting get released.

Part of me somehow hopes this gets enough votes and ends up on Steam. I wonder if then Valve would actually do something about policing content.

I'm just referring to stuff in the videos themselves. Never trust a person who uses a stylized dark red font for subtitles and starts ranting about his favorite strawmen halfway through a retrospective of a 30-year old kid's show.

If there's one consolation a long while ago the site changed it's atrocious design to a facebook ripoff and is run by two new guys. So Captain Ahab is retired.

I really hope he doesn't die realizing what he has done and fostered, I wouldn't want that on anyone.

I find that the f plus can get a bit old, especially when it's literally mocking people who are probably only about 14 and don't know any better yet. TVTropes is silly, but it's hardly the worst of the internet. Sometimes an obsessive dedication to categorising popular culture can be very useful - I often use the site when I need to find examples of, say, particular LGBT tropes, as it tends to be the best place for digging up very specific examples, that aren't necessarily the most obvious or well known ones. (I suppose I could also use IMDB keywords, but they usually don't tell you the exact specifics of the scene in which the keyword is featured.) That said, I made a conscious decision to avoid using TVtropes words in my work for a number of reasons.

TVTropes biggest sin is that it's created a whole lot of people who no longer will look into the deeper meanings and ideas behind technical choices, plot elements and themes in a work and instead will go "Well that's obviously a Draco in a Leather Coat who is a Complete Monster dealing with the Moral Event Horizon and...". Essentially turning film, books and games into a checklist of tropes they recognize. It just seems boring to me.
