Like most people, I forget about Wales. What is going on there politically? Why aren't Plaid very popular?

Labour have a lot more resources than Plaid does to get better coverage in Wales. I also feel like the insistence on strongly supporting the Welsh language, to the point that most election materials are presented in Welsh then English, when Welsh is very much a minority language even in Wales, might not be doing a lot to help them. Yes, they should be supporting the continued survival of Welsh, but the common tongue of Wales is English and they should be reaching out in that tongue first to convince people why Welsh should survive. Welsh media is also not very strong, so Wales receives most of the same newspaper circulation as England.

Labour has typically controlled a lot of Wales for a loooong time, so it is also hard to unseat them. Incumbency effect.

Thats just birds man, great tits are always murdering finches, thrushes kill each other over food sometimes in the winter. Robins are super territorial, sure, and they're always chasing off Dunnocks, but they have a nice song and are pretty tame here, so you know whatever.

Actually my real favourite is long-tails, they're cute and ridiculous looking and pretty chill in those little family flocks.

As a Welsh person, I dunno.

Also Labour is 100% going to win this seat. Like they always have, but they have actually done quite a good job though. Also most of flag outside people's houses are for labour, 2 are for Tories and 5 are for independent. Which are hilarious as they are bright yellow and have loads of small text on them. The amount of labour flags is uncountable, as there is easily over 50.

Was going to spoil my vote by drawing a cock on it, but apparently that counts as a vote for Cameron now.

Voted Green instead. I'm in a Tory safe seat, the best thing I can do is help the Greens retain their deposit.

same, she is a competent leader

I feel like I should also throw in that I feel like most people still don't understand the implications of devolution for Wales, which might be a factor of Plaid's limited success. Nobody ever talks about it except Plaid. People, when I have explained to them why a vote for Labour might not be in their best interests in Wales, tend to not realise that a lot of power in Wales is devolved. As such, much of the Labour manifesto that they see trotted out doesn't actually affect them like they think it does, since those decisions are made in the Welsh Assembly largely (for example, Right to Buy is not a thing in Wales). They don't understand that Westminster decisions don't always affect them due to this devolution.

When I try to explain that the national Labour party presence in Westminster largely focuses on English issues, and as such, another English voice in Wales might not benefit them, I kinda get odd looks. Scottish devolution is well discussed, Welsh is not. A lot of people in Alyn and Deeside for example, just seem to assume Westminster affects them in the same way it does for Chester, when it does not.

I feel like Plaid has done a poor job of explaining why they should be elected for Westminster's Parliament, to serve as the Welsh voice there. Alongside that, I feel like they have done a poor job of clarifying that not all English policies affect Wales, which creates confusion.

Worth noting by the way, that Plaid have a stronger holding in the Welsh Assembly, but it is still Labour with a majority. In the WA, plaid has 11 seats to Labours 30.

why is Stirling so full of goons

something about historical bridges and small-ish universities just attracts a load of us there I guess

only reason I'm not voting in Stirling is because I thought Edinburgh West would either go SNP or Tory and I wanted to make my vote count (though by the looks of things it seems like it's between the SNP, Labour and the Lib Dems, and the latter two will split the vote, so that's something)

btw Edinburgh goons, are there any pubs open late tonight? I don't want to be shunted back home just as the interesting declarations start, is all.
