Time passes quickly on the weekend.

The people asking for polling numbers are from the popular parties checking to see who has voted

They are very much legit. I know this as I used to be one of those people taking the numbers back when my father was a candidate in the 1980's.
From the canvassing, the candidates will identify likely voters for their party and they will go and assist those who are likely to vote for them. Giving lifts to the polling station and such.

Edit, phone posting adds spelling errors.

You can do that already if you want to, so long as you can dodge the antifash.

So if you vote they take your number, figure out who you are and that you vote, then look at your circumstances and assume you're tory or labour and bombard you with more junk mail next election?

Confirmed! A pub near George Square is probably the best if it's a Scottish goon meet, mainly so people can get there easily from the train. From all the burger comments sounds like plenty of us work in that kind of area already.

Edinburgher here, so I think I stand a good chance at least Scottish even with foreign nationals in the mix.

Well, no you won't. But one can dream.

Voting reform is settled for at least a generation. It'd be an affront to democracy to rerun the referendum, no matter how people may feel about the issue in future.

Well the vast majority of the UK endorsed FPTP in a referendum. It would be simply undemocratic to put the question again.
