Just got back from a Regional Tournament with players from at least 5 countries. The Final was played 2 almost identical lists. 4 Scum y-wings vs 4 Scum y-wings. One had the title but no Kavil and the other had no title and Kavil and bombs. Both had cannons , I think a mix of ion and auto.

The no Kavil and no bombs but with the title won. It was not that close . The highlight was the only bomb that was dropped that damaged 3 y-wings turning in to it. To bad it was a seismic and not a proton .

My Tournament and my list sucked but I had a blast none the less. Highlight was playing against a 5 bomber lists that sucked as much as mine!

That sounds like a kickass tournament with that many Y-Wings.

I've been here the whole time, and you're not my real Dad! :emo:
So, I managed to finally get a b-wing expansion, and also found cheap good beer. A lot of it. When I regained consciousness this morning, I discovered this list, to my horror.

Jake "The Snake"- Proton Rockets, Autothrusters,
Ten Numb "The Crit machine" - Mangler Cannon, Veteran Instincts, Advanced Sensors
Wedge Goddamn Antilles - Expert Handling, R2 unit.

So, yeah, I'm still gonna run this at x-wing night on Thursday, but I expect to get my poo poo caved in.

I played a Han Solo and Corran Horn build in a local league tonight and won three games without losing a single ship. Corcoran with fire control system and R2-D2 and engine mod was stupidly powerful. I think it really helped that no one bothered to focus him down. He is agile enough to only take 1-2 damage, and I could easily keep those shields topped off.

Also was pretty funny calling out the younger brother (16ish) of the guy running the shop for the mistakes he was making. Trying to run the Dash Rendar crew member on the Dash Rendar pilot ship. Not realising that the outrider title disables the primary weapon (even better when I pointed that out when both my ships were at range 1 of his HLC). At least the guy was good natured about his mistakes, even though his older brother kept calling him an idiot.

I'd actually really like to see a card (Probably an EPT) that allows you to take the Crew card for the named pilot. Dash is a prime example.

I think the veteran instincts on Corran is optional. It only came into play on one of the fights. You could leave it off for priority bid, or use that point for Nien Nub for Han, as I was pushing the limit a lot with him to either boost/evade, or focus/evade most turns.

This was the first time I ran fire control system, and it allowed me to chew through large ships pretty quickly. Having continual target locks was great, and I was able to basically use a green manuver each turn, and boost to stay in position.

Han Solo — YT-1300 46

Millennium Falcon 1

Corran Horn — E-Wing 35
Veteran Instincts 1
Fire-Control System 2

Hey folks - longtime lurker.

So I've got the core box, both the aces and a HWK because I think the HWK is super cool. However, my rebels are getting slaughtered by the Carnor/Tetran/Dark Curse/Mauler imperial list I put together.

I'd like to take a list featuring the HWK to the local store for X-Wing night, but I obviously need some help. Assuming I'm not proxying, where am I going dreadfully wrong?

Kyle Katarn (21)
Blaster Turret (4)
Recon Specialist (3)

Rookie Pilot (21)

Blue Squadron Pilot (22)
Saboteur (2)
B-Wing/E2 (1)

Jake Farrell (24)
Determination (1)
Chardaan Refit (-2)
Hull Upgrade (3)

Total: 100

View in Yet Another Squad Builder

My gut feel says that I probably need to either shuffle around the B/A loadouts, make the A generic and go with Keyan or just delete the A entirely. The Saboteur is also high on my list of things to look at critically, but I'm not really sure where to go. Got any suggestions?

So that leaves the other 37 points (assuming I keep blaster turret and Recon on the HWK)
  • Chardaan A-Wing + a Rookie X-Wing gives me a 1 point initiative bid?
  • Luke + R2 + Shield + 1 point bid?
  • Biggs + R2 + shield + another shield for the HWK or hull + 1 pt bid?

I am not 100% on this, but try to make room for Moldy Crow on the HWK, especially with a blaster turret. Being able to store focus tokens up gives you a lot of flexibility, which you will need with Jan's ability generating stress. If you do take Moldy Crow, Recon Specialist is not quite so critical to have, just move slower at the start to build up a few turns worth of focus.

I just got into this game as Scum because I always loved it in the sim games when pirates would roll up in old ships. I'm pretty pleased to discover that the Y-wing is incredibly good and super-flexible. With some help from a more experienced player who set me up with 2 Hired Gun Y-wings (each with Ion Cannon Turret, Unhinged Astromech, and BTL-A4) and Kath Scarlet (with a K4 Security Droid and a borrowed Push the Limit and Engine Upgrade) I managed to win my second game when I got the last point of damage on a YT-2400 with my last nearly-dead Y-wing using its primary attack at range 3 through an obstacle when he whiffed all four of his defense dice.

The Firespray is fantastic but I want to see if I can get a little Z-95 swarm to work or make things happen with Dace or Palob in a Hawk along with something else. Totally not giving up my Y-wings though.

My go to load-out for a Kavil (Scum Y-wing) is PTL, Unhinged Astromech, Blaster Turret, and EU. Ran that with Kath w/EU and predator, and M3 Space Cartel with an ion cannon and did pretty decent at the last store tournament (went 2/2).

I know some people prefer Auto Blaster Turret on Kavil, but the meta around here is still so full of high pilot skill arc dodgers that the range one thing is pretty tough.

I think I settled my list for the coming regional I'm going to this weekend. Tried it today and it did alright:

Ten Numb with Mangler and VI (36 points)

2x Blue Squadron B-wing (22 x 2 points)

1x Gold Squadron with Autoblaster Turret (20 points)

List has a fair amount of staying power, using the Y-Wing to dodge is pretty effective and you just make Ten Numb hang back and take pot shots at range. 32 points of HP to chew through as well.

I'm going to have to give bombs and Kavil a try. Is it ever worth running torpedoes or are they too many points for too little?

Is there anything fun to do with Z-95s? There's the named one who gets a bonus if he's alone who looks fun, and without buying anything else I can run 3 bare generics for 12+12+13 points. Hot Shots look like they could be fun on them but are there any worthwhile missiles?

Hawk with a Blaster Turret, Recon Specialist, and Moldy Crow looks like it could be fun. Anything else neat to do with it?

Thanks!

N'Dru works really well with Lone Wolf and Cluster Missiles, since you perform the attack twice, and get the bonus of his extra die and Lone Wolf from being out of range 1-2 of a friendly.

If you are playing scum, run Palob and Opportunist, Recon Specialist is optional with that build. One way or another you will give your opponent a bad day. Either you steal his tokens and proceed to blow up his ships, or you force him to run with lots of target locks which can really mess with people if their builds require focus/evades.

I did a very similar list the other day and won handily against 2x Aggressors twice in a row:

Ten Number with Squad Leader (33)

2x Blue Squadron B-Win (22x2)

1x Gold Squadron w/ Ion Cannon Turret (23)

Pretty much flew the B-Wings in formation for as long as I could and had the Y-Wing just kind of fly around and take pot shots and be annoying.

Y-wing with the title is a space A-10 because it can go "brrrrrrap" with its big front gun and drop bombs.

Space technical is the Hawk because it's a space truck with an aftermarket turret added.

Y-Wing lists like that are going to be interesting when Wave 7 drops with that Twin Laser Turret that's been spoiled...range 2-3, 3 red dice, only does a single point of damage (like an Ion Cannon without the ion effect) but you get to make two attacks with it per go ala cluster missiles.

For reals. I can't get anybody to play x-wangs with me at all nowadays. I decided I was going to regionals at the end of the month like 3 weeks ago, and have gotten like two practice games in since. There's a local tournament on Saturday that I'm going to let be the judge of whether I take the list I've been working on, or gamble on something different.

So if I manage to remain conscious after a 9 hour Infinity tournament on Saturday I'm going to try and play my first X-Wing tourney as well. I'm thinking of playing the following.

Han Solo (47)
Millennium Falcon (1)

Keyan Farlander (38)
Fire Control System (2)
Push the Limit (3)
Engine Upgrade (4)

Prototype Pilot (15)
Chardaan Refit (-2)

I like the idea of playing with Keyan in this configuration as I've had success with him and PTL in the past. I figure the Falcon will serve as a good bullet sponge while I use the A and B to mop up it's pursuers. I've only got a few games under my belt so I'm open to suggestion.

I haven't run Han Solo enough to know for sure, but I think it usually needs a little something extra to help it out. If you want it to survive for any length of time, you need to take the evade token any time someone has a shot at it.

I am not 100% sure, but giving up the cheap prototype to add engine upgrade and Push the limit on Han might more than make up for the A-Wing's attack. Without any upgrades, that A-Wing is not very good offensively, and is killed pretty quick, especially if a high PS pilot can drop in to range one. The problem is, I am not quite sure what to do with the remaining 6 points, other than some crew members on the falcon, and/or a mangler cannon or autoblaster on the b-Wing.

Lando on the Falcon. Take your first action to Lando up and see what you get for focus/evades. If you don't get a focus or evade and you NEED one, you can take the action. If you're good on those counts, you can Boost.
