Anyone here well-versed in FOV settings? League of Rockets was my first PS4 game to include FOV settings, and I can't recall what my 1024x768 is supposed to be set to. The default is 90, but something feels off about the way the game plays.Neo Rasa posted:Do PS4 Witcher 3 players feel cool with the story/characters? Like should Witcher 2 be played first?

I have no idea what the gently caress is going on in the game, and apparently the little girl at the tutorial is someone extremely loving important but the game makes nilch of a mention as to who she is or why.

^^^^ She doesn't appear in the games until 3. Only the dweebs who still read books have a clue about her or Yennifer. Geralt overcame amnesia at the end of 2. other than a quick primer on politics from the kotaku article I don't think you need to know much else to have fun. you can always go back for deeper understanding later. Neo Rasa posted:Do PS4 Witcher 3 players feel cool with the story/characters? Like should Witcher 2 be played first? witcher 2 choices have an effect and many references will be clearer if you play it but that's a lot of witcher to go through all at once. I only played 2 because it was given to me by microsoft. trip report: it can be quite frustrating to play . Real hurthling! fucked around with this message at 21:30 on May 19, 2015 |

On the Xbox shark tank thread they were always telling one guy to start a ps4 sharktank thread and now I'm afraid I'll get banned for starting a thread or something. Plus I'm working until 9:30 pacific.

As someone who has made a few OPs the hardest part is expectations of the posters in it. Just ignore people complaining, add to the OP what you think is important and the rest happens organically. At least its not a mp game, those take the most work.

The default is 90, but something feels off about the way the game plays. There is no direct relationship between Field Of View and your resolution. Generally you want a higher FOV the closer you are to the display, just like you can see a greater area through a window the closer you stand to it. This is why you often see PC gamers complaining about a console port being locked at 90 FOV, since they're usually sitting right in front of a monitor. It's largely a matter of preference, but having a higher FOV gives you an advantage in games as you can see more of the area, at the cost of performance. But really, Harlock posted:Always set FOV to max, hth

The last one was really well done, I'd actually play it some more now but I don't want to bother hooking up my 360. They put out a few lovely SSX games between SSX3 and that last one, but that last one was just like 3 but better. And had great social features. ufarn posted:Anyone here well-versed in FOV settings? It has more to do with how far away from your TV your sit, not anything to do with resolution. If you're up close like a pc monitor then you want it super high, like almost 180. If you're sitting in a football field watching a jumbotron that's 100 feet away, then you want it down to like 45. Etc. 90 is fine for most couch warriors. I'm getting a vaguely Morrowindish feel from Witcher 3, in that the world actually feels dangerous and mysterious instead of cookie cutter and guided. The side quests seem to be a good job of conveying extra things about the world, too: instead of NPCs just telling you how the war is bad and makes people sad, you can go on a quest to find a guy's MIA brother, which has you wandering through a massive field of corpses and broken siege weapons, picking over dead bodies.

Aren't they like the zones in stalker where they are meant to be next to one another but with bottlenecks, unlike in DAI where there are hundreds of miles between zones that have no relation to one another?Abu Dave posted:how does the governor of nilfguard or whatever know Jerry or whatever the main dudes name is i got super confused by that at the end of two it turns out that he's the one behind assassinating the kings of the land he is invading in 3. Geralt, was the personal body guard of one of those kings. also geralt was banging lots of important sorceresses that were part of the secret society that helped plan the hit and as a witcher has traveled south a bunch of times slaying monsters and wild hunting so he's been in nilfgaard before. Again, geralt had amnesia. you not knowing where you know the emperor from is probably more interesting and appropriate than having played 2 and way way cooler than having read a fantasy soft core porn novel.

So I got a PS4 recently and I've noticed that the wifi on the system is incredibly slow. I'm showing about 30 mbps with speed test, but my PS4 is running at around 6 or 7, with downloads running at maybe 0.5 or even less per second. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Like, even if it's to an Ethernet Wi-Fi Adapter (these are a thing). They did the 'stick the Wi-Fi and the Bluetooth on the same chip' thing they did with the PS3 all over again, with similar results.

Because someone mentioned it, here is an example of one of those WIFI ethernet adapters. It looks like this one got decent enough reviews. I have never used one personally but it seems like it'll probably do a better job than the PS4's crappy wifi/bluetooth situation.
