I was drinking with an ex-cop from Las Vegas last night. He was telling me that an unpaid £500 bar bill is a felony and you get 3-5 years for it. I think it's time you lot started wearing black uniforms with skulls on the collars. Over here you get a formal police caution and maybe a small fine. If you are really unlucky you go to Magistrates (read: Joke) court and get a slap on the wrist.

As for drugs, there's a few groups in the mix and they're one of them. There was a series of articles in the news lately that HA members are all in the longshoreman's union in BC and can control things coming in from overseas. For the most part, they fly a very low profile here. They had a funeral for a member a couple of years ago and I was one of several cars that was there to have a visible presence. After the funeral, they all left and they shut down the intersections as they came to them. It was actually fairly slick, they copied how we do it for funeral escorts. Individually when I've dealt with them they're fine. When you get them in a group, they can get out of hand. Actually, nvm, that's cops.

Oh, I don't think they'd actually do it, for just that reason, but I do think it would be awesome if a significant percentage of them just walked off the job and said "fine, if you think so little of us deal with not having us around." With a work slowdown, the same people presently complaining about their policing will just start talking about how they "Aren't doing their jobs" and "blue wall" and poo poo. I don't think many cops are likely to actually give up their income just to prove a point, though.

The people that work there at night know me, I could probably ask them wtf happened if they're even able or want to talk about it. Watching the news and seeing all the details now, I was sitting in that safeway parking lot smoking a cigarette because I had an argument with my old lady and needed to get out of the house. Less than an hour after I left that poo poo happened.
