Looks kind of like a 302 The exhaust note chugged way more than a small block, from in the car it idled a lot like my dad's Eliminator with a 351C, but I know nothing about Fords. These are the only other 2 pics I had of the engine I took just to show my dad the dust on the block. Dunno if that helps anyone ID it.

looks like a 351 based on the width of the manifold.

351 Cleveland - the timing chain is inset into the block - Windsors have a timing cover. Awesome car.

I find the water pump to be the easiest identifier - that's a Cleveland

Nice. Cleveland is 100% acceptable. I always forget about them, too. I was looking for the Windsor rounded edge valve cover or the FE knicked corner valve cover. Dumb ole me.

hackbunny posted:I read that for Forza they used 8 microphones to record each engine, and they definitely used dynos. And that they recorded tire sounds separately on a Tesla Roadster (due to nearly no engine noise). I don't think they put anywhere near this amount of effort in Gran Turismo (I still get the impression GT is the better game) A friend of a friend works at Turn 10 Studios and took us on a tour of the office one time. They have a whole wall of custom made straight pipes that they built specifically for bolting to the cars before they recorded any engine noise. He told us that Ferrari wouldn't let them take the stock exhaust off, and when VAG found out about that, they stopped it from happening on the Lambo's and Audi's as well. They also have a pass/fail light for the builds that come out of their compile farm. The pass light is the headlight from an Audi R8, and the fail is the taillight. He told us that Audi sent them a set as modelling examples but never asked for them back. Nobody in the studio wanted to take it home because at the time they were a couple thousand each.

Collateral Damage posted:Is it time to post Jeremy Foley's crash at Pikes Peak again? Wasn't it more pure luck than anything that the co-driver wasn't killed? I seem to remember their cage design was compromised in some way and the seat the co-driver had wasn't the greatest. I mean, surviving that kind of an off in anything is going to require a hefty dose of luck, but from what I remember it played an even bigger role in that crash.
