My bad taste in games and this thread combined to make me try out Archeage. First reaction, based on the intro: WoW on Drugs. How far off the mark am I? Edit: Also the German voices. Oh mein god.

So far the game is like a fun version of WoW, quite surprising. Whoever did the German translation should be shot, though. Broken sentences left and right, sometimes I had really trouble to make out what someone was saying to me. Graphically, the game feels like a MMO-version of Skyrim, merged with WoW. Or maybe FFXIV. It is a bit sillier than WoW, after all.

Real players houses at the side of the road you can check out and see how they decorate was good. Somehow Trion and XL games just can't stop making GBS threads the bed though. Speaking of flying, once you get your experimental glider from the quest, pop through a portal to Mirage Isle and buy the upgrades for it (I think glider area is marked on the mirage isle map). It costs less than 3 gold to upgrade all the way, and once you do it is 90% as good as the most expensive gliders in the game. You have to be level 15 and 20 to do the last two upgrades, but that doesn't take long at all.

Well, it is fun to play right now and doesn't demand money like FFXIV, so I guess I'll keep playing for now. Need that money to keep feeding my EVE Online addiction, after all.

In a way it's become a de-facto echo negative echo chamber yes, but that's because the game is awful. That's not the point. The point is that telling people "DON'T POST IF YOU DON'T LIKE THE GAME" is some dumb bullshit. You can post if you don't like the game. You can post if you do like the game. A thread being an echo chamber because good/bad opinions aren't allowed is crap. A thread being an echo chamber because everyone pretty much agrees on their own that a game is great/terrible is ok. XCOM is a good example of a positive echo chamber and Dragon Age II is a good example of a negative one. Nobody had to force the tones of those threads. There were no crusades to drive out positive/negative opinions. It was simply obvious to normal human beings that XCOM is a great game and Dragone Age II is shits for the birds. You have the right to protest until the end of time (or at least the end of the thread) that Archeage isn't a bad game it's just misunderstood. And everyone else has the right to tell you you're wrong and it's horrible while laughing.
