he probably wants to play it off as a funny staged pic, but i 100% believe he keeps a bottle of nootropics and jack off oil next to his tv.

i've been playing souls games non-stop since... at least november, and maybe even earlier. i think i'm going to put this to bed once i finish this character, at least for a few weeks. maybe play the witcher, since i split that with my roomie, and i might as well get some utility out of it.

I'm doing this as blind as possible but can someone explain to me what's going on with my health meter? It'll go down but sometimes before it actually goes down if I'm laying into an enemy it sometimes goes back up again? I haven't figured it out

if you notice, there's a ghost bar like in fighting games that shows how much health you had before you took the damage, but also,

Yeah... they suck though. They didn't really plan out how stats are weighted on Blood Gems at all. I think +%rally is found up to the same amounts as +%attack, and attack will recover you the same extra health as a rally gem through way of the extra damage.

Maybe I'm wrong and you can find some crazy +50% rally boosts but I haven't seen any. All the cool non-standard gems are pretty worthless unfortunately by how low their numbers are. [+hp regen, -stamina costs, +%vs kin, etc]

It'd be really cool for build variety to be able to have like +100% rally in a whip gem slot and nifty load outs like that, instead of everyone socketing the 3 biggest +dmg gems they can find for their particular damage type.

i guess i should spoil this since that new guy just showed up, but RE: the real last boss

i had the gehrman betrayal spoiled or me because my phone has google now (where it sees what you're searching for and provides automatic news stories about it) and one of them was some clickbait video game site with "BLOODBORNE: AMAZING SECRET LAST BOSS FIGHT" and a picture of gehrman

anyway, he's a lot harder than any other boss i've faced so far, mostly because i don't ever bother to parry. once i tried a run where i parried him it went a lot quicker, but his phase two is still hard for me. i've only tried it 5 or 6 times so far, though. i may upgrade a quicker, less ammo intensive gun, and try it with that.

it does feel good to have found a real challenge, since i feel like i've steamrolled past everything else once i figured out the catch to the fight. that's probably just because the souls series has a certain number of patterns for bosses, and once you get the basics down it's just a matter of learning animation tells and timing.

i had given up until the last thing i fought dropped one. also, should i attack the non-interactive NPC that's just outside of that fight? i considered it, but decided against it.

the pthumerian queen, or at least a ghost of her, is outside of the mergo wetnurse boss door, crying and looking at the moon. she doesn't have talk dialog, but i'm assuming that since she's a solid object she can be attacked.

also, i was curious what to do with the unopened cainhurst summons and couldn't figure it out, so i googled it and finished the questline by telling alfred about it, letting him kill the queen, and then murdering him at his moment of greatest triumph, only to collect the queen goop from the altar and resurrect it at ebrietas' arena, and then finish by joining the vilebloods. i'd like to think that's the story canon for that event.
