Man, the previews did a huge disservice to the singleplayer portion of Splatoon. The boss fights in particular are super fun. Here's an avatar of the final boss if anyone wants it. That intro was begging to be turned into a gif. Although, maybe you'll want to hold off on using it until people have beat the game. I don't know.

Yeah no kidding, I've been following the game pretty closely but didn't care about the single player at all. Then today I got the game and played through it all + the squid amiibo challenges pretty much in one sitting

If you see a roller and you're a roller, rather than kamikaze into them you should squid away, lose their line of sight behind some cover, and then sneak up and jump on them / flick paint at them instead. It can be done. People are still learning how to fight different weapons with different weapons, lots of new stuff in this game. The roller mirror matches are one of the ones people are bad at.

Does sitting in enemy ink actually damage you? I don't think it can splat you outright, but you get the ink splats on the outside of your hud similar to when taking damage.

Winning and losing are more to do with the entire team then just one guy. I've lost most of my games despite being the top scorer of the team if not game, and yet when I was trying the chargers I won a game where I barely got 200 points. Just keep at it, and hope you don't get teamstacked against by the RNG too often. Oh, and joining on friends still has randomised teams. You're just as likely to be put against a friend as you are to be put with them.

There are spots where people never check for beakons, so you go into their territory, drop a beacon, and start inking up their poo poo. When they eventually kill you, you can just jump to the beakon, drop a new one, and start the process anew. Also I think beakons need to be more brightly colored.

At risk of showing what a stupid octopus I am, what's the secret to getting good coverage and high scores with the roller weapons? I can do well semi-consistently with a bunch of different splatter guns. I know I'm just too terrible at aiming and shot selection for the charge guns. But with the rollers I spend all match painting areas that need to be painted, but never get a special charge and end up with pitiful scores at the end of the match. It definitely damages you, because one of the gear abilities decreases the damage you take. I think I've gotten a couple kills posthumously awarded from people standing in the ink I shot while fighting them.

 holy poo poo that final boss Legit the best and most satisfying final boss I've fought in a long time, I'm glad I didn't spoil it for myself earlier.  Story mode was short, sweet and fairly challenging. Probably my only gripe was that one Kelp Octoling who thought it would be funny to imitate a spawncamper, gave me my only game over.

Use it like a shotgun. I think the Aerospray might spread ink faster.

The Aerospray is my current weapon of choice (RG variant preferred). Its ink spreading capability is amazing and you charge specials so fast it's crazy. Damage is bad, but I mostly use it to ink the world and then get kills will all the specials that come from it.
