Beautiful car for sure... Maybe I'm off base in thinking this but... to me, it's a shame that all of this money and effort has been sunk into a salvage titled car... http://sacramento.craigslist.org/cto/5047024982.html Then again, it is just about a 25 year old vehicle, so in terms of recouping money after an accident maybe it wouldn't be so different with a clean title? Eh who knows.

Long story short, they tried to make this a production vehicle, but failed to meet certain standards. One of the SVT members brought it to an auction in Ft. Lauderdale, where my dad was originally looking to buy a 50's pickup, but saw this and bought it. It's a 2nd owner (1st owner was one of the SVT crew members).

I kind of doubt that Ford would have been willing to sell a non-production one-off prototype to the public at all, let alone in some manner that allowed it to be registered and driven on public roads. Those types of things are usually sent straight to the crusher.

$900 is a perfectly reasonable price for that Jag's apparently straight shell and intact paint and glass. Obviously you'd remove the entire driveline and replace it.

It would now that I'm buying spark plugs in bulk for this kart. Alfaitis is a slow onset disease. At first you just think its a switch or sensor here or there that needs to be replaced. Next thing you know you're babbling to yourself that you need to redo the wiring for the fifth time.

Yeah if it checks out that is about right to cheap, the IX us rare enough that it's hard to establish a baseline for the price, I've seen them up to 12k for crazy examples.

It's a good price but you really miss out on the fun with the iX if you aren't driving it in snow (which is why there aren't a whole lot left). There are also model specific issues that can sometimes be a PITA. But it's a 25+ year old car, so whatevs.

This guy apparently REALLY likes CSI Miami. He is saying he paid more than 250 000 dollars for it new in 2004. Fueling a 6,0L v8 has to be fun at about 8 USD/gallon. He is also proudly showing off his very illegal police lights, and is asking for probably twice what the car is worth. V8 chevy jag conversions are readily available still I think. You can probably stop on the way home and plop a v8 chevy and trans from the auto parts section in the trunk for $400 on the way home.
