Man, reviewers really don't like the Charger. Which is fine by me. The less people using it, the less they expect to be picked off from long distances, or have their retreat cut off by annoying paint lines. EDIT: I love Splatoon's miiverse posts, but where the gently caress are my Zoidberg references? This is bullshit.

Man, the only change I would make to Splatoon's soundtrack would be to throw the Squid Sisters song into the regular map rotation.Jonas Albrecht posted:EDIT: I love Splatoon's miiverse posts, but where the gently caress are my Zoidberg references? Though even those I feel have been dropping off a bit in favour of a wider variety of posts as of today.

Damage talk. Don't use damage mods with the Aerospray. It is the only weapon that doesn't get the bonus, which is silly since it's still affected by people with the defense bonus. The second room in the test range has dummies with 1, 2 and 3 defense mods on them if you want to experiment. Damage bonus is generally bad, and it takes way too many stacks before your time to kill is affected. You need 3 damage mods to turn the Splattershot Jr into a 3 hit kill instead of a 4 hit. Defense mods rock though. You only need 1 defense bonus to make Aerosprays and Splattershot Jrs need 5 hits for killing you. I'm downgrading the rig to a least favorite now because I keep getting put on a team where one guy stands on the starting platform and shoots from there exclusively, or my entire team instantly gives up the top as is determined that the bottom route is the way to win. Ending a match with 1000+ points and 8 kills while the rest of my team has 200 is infuriating.

I never understood how I could be harrying two or three members of the enemy team on the bottom rectangle, while the rest of the team couldn't absolutely wreck the top of the map and beyond. Rollers who don't learn, and come charging down the aisle into my crosshairs are the best rollers.

Yeah the sooner people learn to not care about the bottom of the map the sooner the map can be fun CQC Ink Rollerfests Speaking of which i think Kraken might just bit a tad to powerful since if you pop it right as you see sombody they will die if you jump into them assuming they don't have a paint trail to follow.

It's not even that! I'd be alone at the top fighting people off trying to keep it covered and the entire rest of the map would be the enemy color. "Where is my team!" I'd ask, then look at the gamepad and all 3 teammates are in the box to the south with a single aerospray guy just standing there firing at them. If any of them die they just rush back to the box. I've gone and killed the guy keeping the box closed and somehow by the end of the match they're all back there trapped. It's like retarded pacman.

So what is the key to getting over 900-1000 points every match? It seems like just kind of going around making sure the team wins by just getting ink everywhere doesn't really seem to help when i'll end up with 700-900 points then the guy at the top will have 1000+ with just as many kills as i have. What is the one wierd trick

It depends on the maps. Is only been out for one day, we hadn't seen all the maps yet. Some of the ones we had seen apparently already had two zones, just next to each other. I can't say from experience though since my internet's a piece of poo poo and I'm barely level 8.

Jump and fire ahead to make a small puddle, squid to keep momentum, hop out and make another puddle and repeat. You can wind up in the enemy base a good chunk of the time while they're setting up. I usually start claiming their base before moving on. If you have seekers ESPECIALLY in Makrel throw them out and squid after it. Doing stuff like this always nets me high scores. I'll repaint my own base when I die, that way I know my team is at least holding down the fort. Also reminder to everyone: Echo locater auto refills your ink when used!

Additionally, seekers and I think other bombs that explode post-timer work much like the ink strike. I once threw a seeker near the end of the match and it just went on and on, drawing a hilariously long line after the match ended before hitting a wall and exploding. I bet the other team was pissed if they looked at their map and saw that. But yeah, claiming your base and the nooks and crannies on your half of the map is important, but at the same time claiming the middle/getting a good foothold/whatever is huge too. I always fill in the gaps my team left after my first death so that those are gained without sacrificing a strong start.

the inkzooka is cool as hell, i've been using it a lot. it's really good on the new map since you can just send it straight down a hall and if anyone is in the way theyre gonna have hard time avoiding it earlier today i had a great match on the skatepark where a charger that had claimed the center tower was keeping my team from making any progress while the rest of their team took the lead. i managed to sneak over to them without them noticing me, climbed the tower, took them out quickly and started spraying around the area to build up my special, then i took out my inkzooka and basically used it as a charger w/o the charge time and completely wiped out the other team. after that i just periodically checked up on the tower to make sure we kept it and we ended up dominating the match by the end. i had the top score and i think most kills and i felt real good. this game is fun

That's because campy sniper weapons are harshly penalized by the game's mechanics. It's really trivial for people to just swoop up to you, and if somebody with an aerospray gets in your face (and basically everybody has an aerospray) you’re stuck in a whole bunch of ink, so you can't escape. I say this as somebody who's been trying to make them work for hours but the long range shooter weapons are better in every way. I probably just suck though.
