I dunno man, WoT does not have a stellar track record with integrated video cards. I can scrub the tech area of the brown sea forums and check. Give me a couple of hours and I will post back.

When the tree went from the tier IV Kuma -> tier 6 Aoba the idea of grinding out 18000 experience on an overweight destroyer with no smoke capability did not appeal to me. As soon as the Furutaka was added I unlocked it I went for that. I did, however, end up blowing some free experience to get out of the Furutaka because it just isn't a comfortable ship. The turret layout is weird, it has nil armor, nonexistent anti-aircraft defenses and isn't very maneuverable to boot. The tier VI Aoba addresses all of these problems except for the armor but that matters less when you can straight up dodge a great deal of incoming fire with it. I'm really enjoying the Aoba with a good captain and fully kitted out with accessories. Arishtat fucked around with this message at 16:10 on Jun 3, 2015 |

Some days, that Benson trying and hilariously failing to ram you is something amusing to laugh at in the chat. Other days, the Benson is just buying a few more seconds for his torpedos to reload for a point blank salvo. Remember: Winners don't let DDs close to within 2 km. This PSA brought to you by the Battleship Drivers Of America Association.

Are they supposed to be putting in an arming distance for torps? Right now it seems you can launch point blank for full damage.
|
# ? Jun 3, 2015 16:38 |

There was an arming distance but now it seems like you can pull up next to another ship and roll the torpedo over the side killing it withing 5 meters.

I mean that was possible with torpedos. Noone in their right mind would do it tho. And it sucks gameplay wise. Becuase the best way to deal with destroyers right now is either stay out of range or get as close as possible.

Not really, most torpedoes had an arming distance of 360 to 640m controlled by a mechanical mechanism on the torpedo. They just seem to be doing max damage even below 300m.

The min range is the start of the aiming cone aka basically non-existent now.

I bought Atlanta, it is just so hilarious with 7 turrets firing 2 shells each every 5 seconds or so. Pretty much 'If I fire constantly at citadel it's bound to explode!'.

The Atlanta and its sister ship the Cleveland are probably the two best cruisers in the game right now, I've killed and been killed in my New Orleans simply because I couldn't keep up with the constant damage from them.

I have been tempted to shell out for an Atlanta several times after seeing people die in them after whiffing several full salvos in a row. With that rate of fire on so many turrets, how can people not learn to aim? Hold the left mouse button down and move the reticle around until every shot hits.

It's the only ship in the game where you can quite literally walk your stream of fire onto your target.

I started this game really high on playing the battleships... and then I realized very little of what I do matters in the game. It feels like crits and doing any significant damage is pure luck. I got up to a New Mexico and a Fuso, and was like wow, impressive firepower, but that's just not what seems to happen in game. Just got the Pensacola, and now I've got a maneuverable ship that seems to consistently do more damage per salvo, it doesn't even have upgrades. Seems like if you have a team of decent cruisers, you win. In the end the battleships all get flushed.

With the game's compressed time-to-contact and ranges, it feels like I can almost always carry harder in a cruiser than I could with a battleship, unless all opposing team members are practically throwing themselves at me simultaneously. Pubs complain all the time about planes and torpedoes (and sometimes WG listens?) and never see the rest of their teams dissolving from 6-inch and 8-inch fire the whole time.

I guess you might be able to squeak by on the lowest settings but honestly I would recommend springing 100-130 bucks for a Geforce 750. You can get very good frame rates with that card and it doesn't cost 300+ USD.

At least one shell's bound to hit and critically damage The best part is when you do that to a DD who then doesn't get the hint (because they are about to load up some torps for some sweet run on you) that you have them zero-ed in so the next volley obliterates them. Although, my best moment against a dd was reading the minimap to see where things were going and adjusting towards an island. Perfect timing because I popped out behind the same time a destroyer did with a 3km range separating us. The poor guy at a full broadside salvo for it.

Unless something's changed, or if they're using proprietary mounting holes for the screws, you're okay. But the 750Ti pulls all its power from the PCIe bus, so it's a non-issue.

The overall is 28,561 per battle so the Cleveland is above the curve. I don't play cruisers otherwise and the next closest in number of battles is the Kongo where I have 45k damage. I'm not as active as I was before this last wipe, the did not keep those stats around else I would have more numbers.

The 750Ti's entire gimmick is being the most powerful card that doesn't need any power source other than the connection to the motherboard, so if you can't get a new PSU because the motherboard connector is proprietary, it's the best pick.

Pubbies are terrible so I can't win a single loving game (my win rate went down from 80% to 40% once I hit Tier 6), but there are moments of fun. I just managed to destroy full hp Nagato on my own with Atlanta in 1v5 (I was all alone, 5 enemy closing on me within 15 km with no terrain cover) It wasn't citadel explosion, I just outright charged at that fucker because I knew I'd die anyway, spammed/dodged as best as I could, shot torp once at spread (his engine or steer stopped), got closer to about 0.5 km and shot another torp from other side for full hit and kill.
