Beautiful car for sure... Maybe I'm off base in thinking this but... to me, it's a shame that all of this money and effort has been sunk into a salvage titled car...

http://sacramento.craigslist.org/cto/5047024982.html

Then again, it is just about a 25 year old vehicle, so in terms of recouping money after an accident maybe it wouldn't be so different with a clean title? Eh who knows.

quote:

This is a one-of-a-kind custom topless pickup truck that was created by the former SVT crew at Ford back in 1996. Long story short, they tried to make this a production vehicle, but failed to meet certain standards. One of the SVT members brought it to an auction in Ft. Lauderdale, where my dad was originally looking to buy a 50's pickup, but saw this and bought it. It's a 2nd owner (1st owner was one of the SVT crew members).

We've had this truck since 1998 and have kept it in very good condition and always inside our warehouse. Over the years, I've customized it a little here and there, but nothing major. It has 20" KMC alloy wheels, lowered suspension (3/5), clear tail lights and head lights, Street Scene side mirrors (paintable), Gibson side exhaust system, new Pioneer speakers in the doors and a Pioneer head unit. There is a body kit for this truck, which we never ended up putting on except the front bumper, but later took it off. The body kit is in the bed of the truck with a tonneau cover over it. I'll show it to you when you come to see it.

I only drove this truck to car shows for a while around South Florida, but I haven't driven it much in the last few years. It really does have only 19,582 original miles on it. The engine and transmission is original, never been re-painted, and the interior is all original as well. The floor, however, was spray painted by me because I was young and was trying to do something cool with it, but that didn't work out too well. There are NO jump seats in the back. Instead, there is a full box that is easily accessible.

This was a convertible at one point (had a vinyl top with plastic back window), but it took 2 people to put it up. Sometimes you had to use a hair dryer to expand the fabric so it would clip to the front, which was always a pain in the a** to do. There is NO longer a top for it anymore, however, the side bolts in the custom roll bar are still there so if you wanted to get a top made, you can have it easily installed back on.

If you have any questions, please feel free to email me anytime, any day. Thanks for looking!

I kind of doubt that Ford would have been willing to sell a non-production one-off prototype to the public at all, let alone in some manner that allowed it to be registered and driven on public roads. Those types of things are usually sent straight to the crusher.

They dump them at auction in batches, but they don't have vins or anything.

the lincoln blackwood concept went for less than the production lincoln mark LT was selling for at the time.

$900 is a perfectly reasonable price for that Jag's apparently straight shell and intact paint and glass. Obviously you'd remove the entire driveline and replace it.

It would now that I'm buying spark plugs in bulk for this kart.

Alfaitis is a slow onset disease. At first you just think its a switch or sensor here or there that needs to be replaced. Next thing you know you're babbling to yourself that you need to redo the wiring for the fifth time.

Wait, the guy carries a roll bar with him? That's got to be a tremendous pain in the rear end if he installs/removes it at every track day.

It's a good price but you really miss out on the fun with the iX if you aren't driving it in snow (which is why there aren't a whole lot left). There are also model specific issues that can sometimes be a PITA. But it's a 25+ year old car, so whatevs.

This guy apparently REALLY likes CSI Miami. He is saying he paid more than 250 000 dollars for it new in 2004. Fueling a 6,0L v8 has to be fun at about 8 USD/gallon. He is also proudly showing off his very illegal police lights, and is asking for probably twice what the car is worth.

V8 chevy jag conversions are readily available still I think. You can probably stop on the way home and plop a v8 chevy and trans from the auto parts section in the trunk for $400 on the way home.

I think the '87 SE would have come with the 2.8 V6.

Edit: it looks like the SE trim could come either way. I would think the iron duke would be better than 16 mpg city.
