Hey Term, is there any particular reason why the Testament takes two shells per shot instead of just halving the ammo capacity/pickup values and having it shoot a single ammo unit?

I think a lot of these criticisms are valid, so I figure a good way to accommodate them would be to have some kind of secondary mode of play. An alternate set of abilities and weapons, if you will. Or perhaps another person! It's a silly law that makes it harder to track how many shots I have left and means I constantly go "OH 80 SHOTS THAT'S PLENTY" then "HEY WHY AM I OUT OF SHOTGUN AMMO " 40 shots later, though. Anyway that and the RSI aside Demonsteele is great and I nominate it best FPS of 2015 despite the last major release being from last year.

Do you have the same problem with the vanilla SSG, or do you use one of those My reasoning is best because it make the Half-Life shotgun the best videogame shotgun of all time, since it can fire two shells out of one barrel. Clearly that's the important metric to be shooting against.

I'd rather take a mod that only has a dual-barreled shotgun and thus means you'll never have an odd-numbered shell count over a mod that gives you a dual-barreled shotgun but only ever takes away one shell coughQuakeRangerinSamsaracough I played a fair bit of the Zandronum 2.0 port of Reelism last night with some Skype buds. It was really fun, especially listening to them witness its special brand of insanity for the first time. Although I could've done without the part where certain players catching fire caused the game to crash for other players who didn't catch fire, including the server process itself at least once. Or the bosses refusing to die, despite being pumped with like 1000x the amount of lead/lasers/fire it would take to kill them ordinarily, to the point where we couldn't even get the wizard out of his monster truck after 20-30 minutes of trying (I mean, I expect they have scaling, but it was only the four of us...). Neither of which are probably Kins' fault, given, well, it's the Zandronum 2.0 port, not the GZDoom original mod. Man, I'm really hoping Zandronum 3.0 means we won't need special Zandronum-specific versions of every mod. (We will.)

That's one of the fun things about super shotguns. You look at your 60 shells and think "Oh man I can take down this small group of Revenants/Ogres/Gunners with the SSG with no prob!" and do so, but then you look at your ammo counter afterwards and find that you lost way more ammo than you were expecting because you forgot how much ammo each shot uses.

Bought Outlaws while it was on sale on GOG. I rather liked the one level I played, but I'm having the bizarre issue where the menus are causing my GTX970's graphics driver to repeatedly crash and recover. Mouse is very unresponsive in the interim, too, so getting through the menus is a pain. Once I'm in-game, it's all hunky-dory, so it's all rather bizarre; usually the menus are the most stable part of any given game... I want to say it's due to the Glide wrapper, but for some reason the game refuses to use Direct3D or run in Windowed mode, even when I explicitly set it to in the external config program. Annoying.

I couldn't get the Glide wrapper to work and played it in DirectDraw, except I had issues where the map and pause menu were broken and nearly useless.

Biggest changes honestly are the blood/janitor/gameplay stuff being adjustable under options. Gameplay-wise, if your coming from v19, you'll see humans/imps/demons being a lot deadlier if you play on the harder difficulties. Former humans fire in rapid bursts and occasionally will strafe/roll around your attacks, imps have a long-distance pounce, and demons are waay faster and will continue to hunt you down even without limbs. Oh, and you can finally tell the AI marines to stay in place and NOT run directly in front of your rockets.

I can look at academic transcript and see when I was playing too much Doom. If only I could program as well as I could span multiple zip disks and track down obscure Doom mods. The videos up on Youtube are good but not really the same due to palette changes and using the Dehacked mod that can't really be replicated these days as it messed with the executables to change cheat codes and game mechanics. Has anyone redone the Army of Darkness for Doom mod? Unpacking all the sound effects from the Simpsons Doom and using them as Windows sounds. There was a mod scene for Duke Nukem but I don't remember it being as active as the Doom WAD scene. The best one I played for it was the Indiana Jones conversion. I am too scared to reinstall Grezzo II as it crashed so bad the first time. Could never get into the Quake games. I did find out you could put your own music CDs in when playing Quake and it would play them as the soundtrack, cue putting in Nick Cave's "The Boatman's Call" and opening the door to a shambler just as the song "Into my arms" came on. I swear this happened but I was never able to capture it. I also had a letter published in HYPER magazine in Australia just for describing it. Supposedly I have a decent gaming rig but I got my first startup blue screen with ViaHub3.sys and Wdf01000.sys errors. I only got this computer a couple of months ago. Not sure how many games I will get to play, but I wanted an actual good computer and not a cheap one. One of my contract roles had gaming rigs set up to do work on for the performance boost (they played Counterstrike at work also.)
