No need for them to remake this, you can easily recreate the authentic TftD experience yourself. Just punch yourself in the balls a few times then draw "Game Over" on your screen using MS Paint.

Beagles plays on Impossible with the Total War mod, so it's like learning tennis from Pete Sampras. But if you watch a dozen or so of his Live & Impossible series, you should be set. I don't think there's one specific "This is how you play" video. It's probably best to play the game a bit, then watch him, if only to realize that even though it looks easy when he does it, it's totally different when you're up.

... you people way overcomplicate that mission.

Bring all your dudes down, killing the roaming zombies/lids. Send one guy up onto the ship while the rest camp out near the furthest cabin, and have him hug the outside railing until he gets to the button.

Fighting retreat on the way back, Heavies are especially great here because Bulletswarm lets them shoot then move. You should get back pretty easily.

I've literally never lost anyone on that mission.

You don't even have to kill the zombies if you stick to the dock (on Classic, don't know on Impossible).

Real quick question: With the latest Long War, if I want the maximum variety of voices, should I turn on the multi-language voiceover option? I had that on before so my Russian troops actually spoke Russian, but I don't know if that overrides the new voicepacks or what.

When you're caught up with his Live and Impossible Long War playthrough on youtube, his twitch channel has hundreds of hours of XCOM livestreams. Just go to the Highlights part and scroll alllll the way down. You can save your spot in a twitch archive by typing ?t=1h2m3s (hours/minutes/seconds) on the end of the video archive link and hitting enter, it'll start at that point next time you load the page.

He starts out with the first 10 TNX's being a playthrough of vanilla EW, before switching over to Long War.

I take offence at this! I'm autistic and I'm nowhere near as needlessly argumentative and wilfully ignorant of facts (like people having examined the drat code) as Woozy is. Then again, I'm high functioning, perhaps Woozy is lower functioning. Unless you mean Woozy has is particularly annoying to people who are autistic, which might be offensive to people like Coolguye and Cythereal.

But yes, frankly the snake tits are a far less annoying and controversial conversation topic. (Even though the desire to prove (what you perceive to be) an idiot wrong will always be strong).

I can have moments of... eccentricity and sometimes be quite curious about things. Please forgive me if I do something foolish or rude.

As was mentioned, he's playing Long War, so the game is a little bit different. That said, just watch the first video of Live and Impossible. He talks about what he is thinking with every move he makes, and why it is important to look several moves ahead. He shows how to use coverage properly while preparing flanks. Lots of flanks in this video.

The Big Secret regarding the Newfoundland run is that as long as you don't have any Chyrssalids in front of you and you follow a fairly flat run to the Skyranger (there are at least two such paths that I'm aware of), the Chryssalids will be able to catch up to you, but not actually hurt you. They're fast, but they're not so fast that their one move is worth two of yours, generally speaking. So they'll haul up on their first move a square or two out of melee range, and blow their second one just closing the last few feet. You needn't worry too much about fighting a running gun battle, really.

This changes if they can draw a more direct line to you using jumpy legs or something, though. While it isn't foolproof, it's much easier to make it out of Newfoundland without leaving a lamb than people might notice at first glaze.

Punchy MECs can outrun chrysalids, or at least keep ahead of them. Plus they can survive being chewed better than rookies. MECs make that mission so easy it is almost boring.

I've seen chrysalids take a shortcut over the roof of that boat on the corner of the dock. That got them close enough for a melee attack when i first did the mission.

The Live & Impossible are mostly uncut and unedited, so they're definitely on the long side. He's got some older Ironman Impossible (Long War and Enemy Unknown) videos though that are much shorter, and still packed with good advice.

Aleuts rock, chummer.

The Whale mission I usually have two groups, the front group that moves once and fires back at the approaching chrysallids and the rear group that double moves back to the evac. I've never lost anyone on that mission, I usually send in a punchy MEC to activate the boat since it can double move away from the enemies pretty well. Oddly enough this game I haven't had that mission trigger yet and I'm just starting into plasma tech after raiding the alien and exalt bases.

I just single-move-and-overwatch until I'm in dash range. But I keep people in movement enhancing armour forever.

One time I had two Assaults along with me and had them bring up the rear with their shotguns. Always adjacent to each other. Chryssalid runs in, Close Combat Specialist, no more Chryssalid.
