New trailer for Vacation: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jiap9sbLaP8 The sewage joke is lame, but overall I think it could be funny. Comparing it to the originals is likely to fall flat, but I managed some laughs at the trailer.

It does seem to hit that sweet spot between "funny enough for a mainstream comedy to get asses in seats" and "just edgy enough for the Applebees/TGIFridays/Chilis/Buffalo Wild Wings crowd to think they're watching something hip."

Sigh. I'll probably watch it and then get overly excited at the Keegan Michael Key part. That guy has got my number these days.

The kids in that trailer were great and overall it was way better than the first one.

Trailer content is actually gated pretty heavily by the rating of the movie it's attached to, it's why you don't see trailers for stuff like The Hangover on kids movies period.

The Macbeth trailer looks somewhat pretty, but I don't know if enough so to justify another goddamn remake. Vacation is at least bringing something new to the table as a sequel.

I'm uncomfortable with calling a different version of Macbeth a remake.

If you'd prefer the term reboot, which is what generally gets bandied about in regards to the eternal cycle of Spider-, Bat-, and Super- Men, that's fine with me.

Shakespeare and Bible stories are kind of outside the realm of "reboot" or "remake". It's like calling a Bond film a sequel (Quantum not included).

I prefer the term "reenimaginshapingment" Still, from what I can see, it's no Titus. Too bad Julie Taymor's Shakespearean movie after that sucked apparently (anyone see The Tempest that can verify? y n).

I'd like to see them go for it a little bit more if we're going to get another Macbeth, whatever term you want to call doing another one of those. edit: But then I'm not particularly a Macbeth fan. A little too grimdark for my tastes and ironic prophecies are a bit of a cliche. Sir Kodiak fucked around with this message at 20:06 on Jun 5, 2015 |

Also saw some promo stills of Matt Damon in his suit, and it looks so much like they took Prometheus and the current NASA suits and split the difference that I'm wondering if they didn't actually just modify the Prometheus helmets. It looks good either way. The helmets in Prometheus have great silhouettes and giving them a rugged and sightly chunkier makeover is cool.
